Late Ovulation

I was just wondering if anyone knew how common it is to OV late? I have taken several OPKS and never had a spike on any of them. I used the 5 day pack as the longer ones are more expensive. Not to mention that I don't usually see EWCM until like day 18 or so.
I know too, that you don't always OV. Can you know when you will or won't? I'm not a big charter or temp taker. I track AF and thats about it. I'm just really curious as to how this all works.
With my daughter it just happened. She wasn't planned, but very much wanted as I had just lost my mother and needed something to help me thru the grieving process.
Anyway, I'd love to hear what you all have to say.

I dont know how helpful I am, how long are your cycles? The LP is normally 10 to 16 days so if your cycles are 34 days you would O between day 18 and 24...I got +opk's last week but today i got the darkest opk ever, I decided to test every second or so day this month because my cycles are quite long (29 to 35 days)

Guess I should've put that info in there....I usually have a 28- 29 day cycle. So I'm pretty normal. The only thing is this last AF was very long, practically 2 weeks...not my typical.

Thats wierd, if you have a 28/9 day cycle you should o on day 14...unless you have a 10 day lp and you o on day 18?
I have no idea whats with the long af though...sorry I hope someone else can answer.

I just wanted to add..that without having a positive idea when you ov its all gonna be average this and average that..lol! i.e. if you have the average 28-29 days cycle you should per average ov on day 14...however, we dont work like that. Your lp could be shorter or longer (as you suspect) than 14 days for example. On a 29 day cycle i ov'd on cd 16..so you can see its a bit hit and miss.

My suggestion to you would be

a) bd every other day and every day mid cycle, that way you cant miss it, the ov.

or

b) use and online fertility calculator such as this one (i use as well even though have a cbfm and not pretty much to the hour when i ov)... http://www.whenmybaby.com/conception-calendar.php

So in a longwinded way, the answer to your question is , yes it is normal to ov later than cd14.

As far as the opk's are concerned....you do sometimes have to use it 2 a day as the lh surge can come very suddenly and then taper off again..and you'd miss it. Buy it in bulk from ebay? I have..

Good luck, hope any of this rambling helps...lol!

Hi, can't agree more - I am pants at being organised and discipline even with such big stakes so found it hard to chart etc. 2 things really helped me (tho I'm still TTC) a CBFM and TCOYF.

Fingers crossed. good luck to all.

I have a 26-28 days cycle and O late (16-18 ) Apparently if you don't have a 10 day+ gap between O and AF, it can cause problems (I've got an appointment on Sat to talk to my dr about this) but the fact you already have a child is encouraging. Good luck
