CBFM test sticks

Hi there,

I've just started using my CBFM and I'm a little bit confused about something. Yesterday (CD6) it asked for my first test stick. I poas and noticed that in the little window on the stick it went blue and a line appeared in the middle. I assume this is what is meant to happen, then today when I poas the window in the middle hardly went blue at all and there was no line. I put it in the machine anyway and it didn't tell me there was a problem. Can any one tell me if I did anything wrong (perhaps I should have held it in the flow for longer) or is this normal? I've been so excited about using my monitor I really don't want to do anything wrong!

The two lines on your CBFM test sticks are for LH and Oestrogen. As your Oestrogen rises, funnily enough the corresponding line gets fainter.

A rise in Oestrogen will signal that ovulation will follow at sime point in the next few days, but not necessaily immediately. The monitor will now watch out for your LH surge, at which point the LH line does get darker..

Incidentally, if Oestrogen rises quickly, you can jump straight from low to peak....its all part of the learning curve for the monitor.

www.peeonastick.com gives you some great reads about it and some sample oics of sticks for you to compare.

Good luck....I love my CBFM and it certainly helped get me pg last time!

Hi Lyns,

Thanks for that explanation. I think my problem was I wasn't expecting to see any lines so when I saw one the first day thought that was the norm I'm going to look on that website now and educate myself!

Thanks again.

You should put the stick in the monitor straight away - ages ago someone was asking about this and that's how we know. That is why it takes 5 mins to read. I have posted an example of my two peak days in the ovulation gallery if you wanna see what the sticks look like (not that we are officially meant to read them as we are not a CBFM! LOL!)

Thanks for that Tansey. I'm not actually trying to read the sticks myself, I only just about managed to set up the CBFM so I'd have no chance understanding the sticks! I don't think I expressed myself very well, my concern really was whether I had used the stick correctly, ie held it in the flow long enough as the result window looked totally different the second time I used one. This morning I made sure I held it downwards at all times and in the flow for longer and this time it looked the same as the first time I used it. I can only assume yesterdays stick didn't work properly, but it was only the second one I've done so hopefully wont have mattered too much.
