If you were me..your input needed..

Okay. Here's the thing. Came off BCP July and having been trying since. Not testing or temping - but not doing anything to prevent if it did happen. First cycle just 18 days - this cycle we are sitting at 30+ days already with no signs of or - I just purchased some home ovulation testing strips from Ebay and they should be arriving any day now.

My question for you - would you start testing for ovulation now? Or would you wait to start fresh in a new cycle? Perhaps I missed it already this go around? Perhaps I didn't and I am looking at a 50+ day cycle. Argh. Frustrating, but curious as to what you would do. I know that the will come eventually - would be great to have a but I don't "feel" anything so - I am assuming its the that will show her face eventually.

Please advise. I totally respect all your input!

thats a tricky one - I dont know enough about long cycles to really say anything

The sensible answer is that if you have just come off the BCP - and your cycles are all over the place - is to wait for AF - then test from there. I think they say to take an average cycle length to know when to start, but if your cycles are long maybe some internet cheepies are in order you could be testing for quite a few days!

However - sensible sometimes isnt always easy - maybe buy some cheapies and start now? - oh, now I dont know! I will just stop rambling and let the other ladies on here who know way more than me help you!

Hi my cycle is roughly 42 days each time. Long cycles are pretty much the same as short ones, in terms of it all happens in the last 2 weeks, we just have longer to wait for ov than the others! (ie i ov around day twenty eight)

I wouldn't bother with the sticks this month, as you just don't know where you are and you'll get fed up trying to work it out!!

Have you had any mucus change this month? If you had some EWCM earlier on, then you are probably definitely past ov and I wouldn't bother with the sticks this cycle and start with them next time.

The other thing is that irregular cycles after the pill are often because you don't always start ovulating straight away. Some people do but some people take a few months to get the ovaries kicking in again!

Good luck x
