some info if your opk line isnt as dark as the control line

hi girls. due to some confusion i have had over the past few days with lines not being as dark as the control line when using internet cheapies and then me not being sure if i had hAd my surge i looked up some info from fertility plan and thought i would post it on here as it seems from reading previous threads that there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the test lines
here goes

How dark does the test line need to be to show I am ovulating normally and what if I get no lines in the test window?

Essentially at any ovulation sensitivity level if you get no lines at all in the test window then you either haven't ovulated or the test is not sensitive enough to pick up the surge so you should go for the 15mIU sensitivity tests. At any sensitivity level if you get no test lines followed by faint lines for a couple of days which then fade back to no lines then that is the perfect indication that you have ovulated normally during those days. If, however, you get no lines at all in the test window with the highest sensitivity 15 mIU test (as far as we know, no one in the world does a more sensitive ovulation urine test) for 2 months then you should contact us for advice as we may be able to help. The email address is shown below.

I thought that i was getting all negative test results since i started using the tests on friday as none of my lines was as dark as the control line. i had a look at all of them today and it was evident that sundays test was the darkest one i had done and they have now gone back to ultra faint or as todays test was........no line at all so i think that my surge was sunday and according to my chart i should be ovulating today so that would work out about right. hope this helps xx

Thanks girl, they do seem very confusing and this first month of temps showed me that the temp totally works so I'm thinking I'm going to flush the OPK's haha

That has appened to me! I got darkish lines not as dark as the control line on Saturday and Sunday now they have gone really faint again. I now have EGCM... Im guessing that means I have ovulated then?

Yeh opks are just plain confusing!!! Thanks for the info Poppielia!!

I had that last cycle - lines gradually getting darker but not as dark as the control line and then after my darkest I had a really faint one and then nothing!!! The CB one which gives you a smilie face although expensive does take the guess work out of trying to interpret the lines!!!!
My BBT thermometer arrived this morning so as of tomorrow I shall start charting my temp and see how that goes for me!!!
