Advice on sperm tests!

Hubby has been refered to have his swimmers checked. However his doctors is useless and didn't give him any details on what he needs to do.

We haven't BD for 9-10 days cos of TTW and AF if we did a sample now is it to old? If so we can BD tonight to refresh them, after that how many days do we need to wait untill we do his sample? Just want to get this done a.s.a.p as i don't want to be abstaining at all anytime around ovulation.

Thanks girls.

I think i read somewhere 2-3 days is a good length of time to "store them up" so to speak.

Just looked it up and for home tests it says this:
"You should wait at least 3 days after ejaculating before you collect another semen sample for testing."

Hope this helps x

I dont know what other docs do but my doc said he'd give oh a small container, a letter of referral and that after doing the dead, to take it to the clinic within an hour. I agree with what the other girlies have said about abstaining before the test.. found this too..

You will be given a specimen pot. Produce semen by masturbation into the pot. Do not use semen from a condom. Before producing the specimen you should not have had sex for at least 48 hours. However, no more than seven days should have gone by since last having sex. Ideally, you should deliver the sample to the laboratory within one hour of production. The pot which contains the sample should not be left out in the cold but should be kept warm, for example, in a pocket.

Hope it helps!

Hmm, i think it could be based on the information that i found and that Omi found. It seems at least 48 hours is necessary, if not nearer to 72 hours xx
