we have been trying for 6 months and currently having tests - not referred to a specialist until theres a viable reason for not being able to concieve.

from what i understand it's normally a year - 18 months of constant TTC before you'll get properly referred, and depending where you live will determine how quickly an appointment comes through.

I've had two af since coming off pill in march 1st took 81 days to arrive, and the 2nd took 56 days, i'm being sent for a ultrasound this friday (took few days for letter and 2 weeks for date) to investigate if theres any physical explanation for this. ie. pcos.

if your worried you can always request tests the scan is one option and you can have bloods done to see if your ovulating, i would imagine that these would normally be done before being referred.

Were having tests done at the moment. Just wondering if we need to be referred, how long it will take to see the specialist, once our doctor has refered us?

am i right in assuming you're asking about going private amd not the nhs? Cause if its nhs every nhs board has different rules and different timelines. Its nearly a 2 year wait in Glasgow where i am. And since i had a mc in feb i have to wait nearly a year before i'll get referred.

Wishing you lots of luck!!

Omi xxx

Jesus 2 years and 9 months to see a specialist? My doctor said she is testing this cycle and next then if needs be she will refer me in October. So it will take if i was in glasgow it would take 2 years for me to get to see the specialist? That is crazy. 9 months is a crazy amount of time to, i'm in shock. X

i know..but i have 2 friends on fertility treatment and thats what they told me...im telling you..im between a rock and a hardplace as my main problem is that i dont have one- except running out of time-i'll 39 in 7 months. But fingers crossed if i need referred it will be quicker than 2 years- geez ill be an old lady otherwise, lol!!

Also wanted to add that the reason for the longwaiting lists are 2fold. a) more and more people need treatment and b) lack of funding

ps. Sorry for hijacking the post-apologies!!!
