Eary ovulation in a long cycle is it possible?

I am TTC , i have a long cycle of 41 days and on day 10 of my new cycle i experienced ovulation pains, i made sure i had sex that night, but i have to say it was a bit of a shock as i never expected to have ovulated that early, my period only lasted 5 days and then 5 days later i was ovulating, do you think this is possible? a week after having sex i had some cramping which felt like my uterus. I dont want to get my hopes up but i'd just like to hear from anyone else who ovulates earlier than they should. I work shifts so i wonder if this could have an effect. As i have only just started TTC i dont know when i ovulated in previous cycles.

hi there and welcome to BnB!

It's totally possible to ov on cd10. It's a little early going by general averages, but still common.

Are you sure your cycles are always 41 days?

It is very unlikely that your ov would be on cd10 if your cycle is going to be 41 days this time, impossible I would say... The time between ov and af (luteal phase) is usually around 14 days, for all women, Less than 10 is a problem, up to 16 or 17 is good (as far as I know) but 31? no, I don't think it's possible.

Either your pains weren't ov pains, or you are going to have a shorter cycle this month, or you are going to ov more than once this month.

Best way to find out about when you ov is charting your temps.

Good luck chick!
