A friend of mine is currently TTC. She isnt doing opks, temping..etc none of that fancy stuff that we are so obsessed with. lol
Anyways, she asked me for advice for her TTC journey (she already has a 1yr old) and I gave her advice...she thought her cycles were 28 days so I estimated her OV/fertile days etc going by that. She just texted me back and said she checked and her AF shows every 21 days. She was on the bcp. With her cycle length being 21 days when do you reckon she would OV? what her fertile days could be? Would this change her LP? Any 21 day cycles out there? Im not really sure what to tell her as my cycles are usually 28days+ so am only used to that.

Her AF started on August 9th.

hey! if her cycles are 21 days she would likely ov on day 7 so i would say her most fertile days would be from day 5 to nine. tell her to pay attention to her cm too, if she is just coming off the pill her cycles might be longer. mine were 21 on the pill but switched to 26 or 28 when i went off, so it is very important she pays attention to her cm. good luck to your friend! xoxo

I checked on a few sites and all of them going by her last AF on August 9th say that her OV should be the 16th...thats with a 14 day LP mind you. So you sound just about spot on Kari!! You're so smart!! haha thanks a bunch! xo

oh and I will make sure to tell her to keep an eye on her CM and let her know her cycles may change because of the bcp. I was pretty lucky, mine were 28 days while on the pill and stayed that way up until I got preggers the first time and had my m/c. Now I am just "assuming" they are 28days until I know for sure this cycle. If I dont get my bfp before than Woot! Anyways, I will pass on that info to her!! xo

sounds like she might have a short LP cos if she was to O on day 7....well thats usually just end of period....i bet with a 21day cycle she will O on day10 with a 11dayLP

If she really wants to work it out she needs to test hun or look for the normal ov signs. I had a 23 day cycle and didn't ovulate until day 16. That's why I always have my frist af when pregnant as my body doesn't have enough time to stop them. So it is impossible just predict without her testing or sign spotting xxx

I agree with Logiebear. Tell you friend the best thing she can do is use opk's or temping to figure out when her ov day is. If her luteal phase (time after ov) is less than 10 days she will have problems conceiving and needs to be checked out for low progesterone by a doc. She might be perfectly healthy and just ov early around cd8, but unless she starts trying to find out when she ovs she is not going to know.

Ya I figured she may not have too much of a problem with her LP because she has already gotten pregnant once and she wasnt trying at the time. But then again you ladies know alot more about all that stuff. I just figured if she got pregnant once her LP must be pretty normal. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong lol

Thing is, I don't think your LP is necessarily the same after a pregnancy. I have a little one, but I now get LP spotting from 5dpo and have been struggling to conceive no.2 for 16 months now! I'm not trying to alarm you, just saying you never know!
