what does your temp get up to when Ov'ing

Hope someone can help me please. I've just had my thermometer come in the post and was wondering if there was a certain temperature that means that you're ovulating? Obviously I can't start till tomorrow (you take temp in the morning is that right?) but I'mabout mid-cycle now. Also just did an ov test and that was negative - hoping I haven't missed the boat this month!!

Just had a quick check and right now it's 36.51

Also should I wait for CD1 before I start temping, if I start today will it just confuse things??

It's different for everyone -- it takes a while of charting before you can work out yr own unique temp patterns.

You can start temping on any day of the cycle, although some think it makes more sense to wait for CD 1.

Good luck

Yaya xx

Hi Claire,

Your temp after ovulation depends on the individual. Typically mine rises from between 36.3-36.6 before ovulation to 36.8-37.2 afterwards.
I would recommend taking your temp first thing in the morning from tomorrow onwards and see if a pattern emerges?

What cycle day are you on?

I would start tomorrow, just to see how it goes, but you won't get a true picture for this month.

Good luck

I'm on CD 14, but have no idea how long my cycle is as this is my first proper month TTC. I'm assuming I could ov any day now, am I right?

I think I'll start temping from in the morning as by the time my next cycle comes round I'll be well into the routine by then. (Maybe i won't get to my next cycle, heres hoping!)

Everyone is different but my pre ov temps are around 36.3 and post ov are 36.6-36.8. If you take your temp in the afternoon it will show much higher - you need to do it as soon as you wake up as that's when your body is coolest. - the basal body temperature. Good luck and give us a shout if you need help - there are loads of us tempaholics around! xxx

Your temp should dip before Ov and then rise after and so you won't know that you have OV'd until after it happens. But temping can help give you some idea over time of what is happening. You can't presume you will OV around CD14 as i have a 29day cycle and don't OV until CD16. Have you been on the pill? As this can take a while to get out of your system and can mess it up a bit (but not everyone).
Good luck!

No I haven't been on the pill, but I did have a miscarriage on June 14. Next AF started on July 25 but I'm not reading to much into that as I understand it can take a while for my cycle to get back to normal (whatever normal is, I also suffer from PCOS and have to go to the docs for a CD21 test next time).

I might be back here over the next few days for some more advice all this is new to me!!
