Cheapie OPK's - how reliable are they?

Hi

I had a mc 2 weeks ago and am ready to ttc again. I bought some cheapkie internet OPK's to help me on my way. How reliable are these - any advice from you ladies?

hi there i personally found them rubbish, i got mine off fertility plan on e bay and gave me false negatives for 5 months. reading there feedback and it wasnt good so many ladies said that they didnt work. im not saying that they wont work for you its just my experience. i know how expensive the good make are but at least you know that they are more likley to be accurate

sorry to hear about your mc i had one of those with baby #1 went on to have a boy and a girl so i know you will get your baby lots of luck

Thanks for this. This is the first time I've started using OPK's as I want to be ready for anything this month!

I got mine off fertilityplan from ebay and mine were fine. I have stopped BCP about 6 weeks ago so dunno if that has anything to do with it but about 3 weeks ago I had nothings, then earlier last week I had feint lines then on Sat eve I had a dark line and also on Sun am. Now all gone and feint again so seem ok?

Mine were fertilityplan also, and whilst my CBFM said I Ov'd, my OPK's test lines never got anywhere near as dark as the control line.

I personally think they are OK, but not overly reliable. Use them as a guide....when you see lines getting darker, then test with something a bit more reliable as a cross check, or chart or something.

This makes me feel so much better!! Thank you! I'm going ever-so-slightly crazy in the 2ww and got it into my head that I hadn't ov'd at all. Last 2 months my OPKs (from fertilityplan too) got darker and darker and then completely blank, but never went as dark as the test line. My CM and CP both strongly suggest ov though. Didn't use OPKs when ttc my last two and wish I hadn't started with them this time. Interpreting them seems more trouble than it's worth!!

I'm using OPKs from fertilityplan and have had the same thing happen - a line getting gradually darker over 3 days but never getting as dark as the control line and then today its gone really faint again!!!!

Hmmm, seems to be a bit of a trend here! Maybe the old CM is the better indicator!!
Thanks though, it's put my mind at rest. xxx
