Anovulation (taking clomid)

Hi everyone, I'm new to this so hope you know what h'm going on about!

Well i have been ttc for 4 years now. My partner has low sperm count ( i ovulate fine ) I started clomid 50mg jan this year, took it jan feb and march and fell pregnant in april but had a early m.c so started back on the clomid in may. Anyway i get my progesterone checked cycle day 21 every month and is normally between 45-60 which means i ovulate but this month is was only 4 which means i didn't ovulate and i am now 5 days late for my period! I did a pregnancy test 2 days ago (just in case) and it was negative. Could this be anovulation? I think its weird as most women are put on clomid because they don't ovulate but it looks like its had the opposite effect on me this month. I can safely say i think I'm going crazy! Can clomid do this? I am sooooooooo confused! I want to start taking my next lot of tablets (clomid) but have to start my period first so if this is anovulation can the doc give me something to make me start?
Please help!!!!

I'm not too sure about this but have just been prescribed Clomid to start on my next cycle (I normally ovulate too). In my case the Clomid is to increase egg production as I have a decreased amount of eggs left due to my age (46).

I have been reading for the last two days on the internet about the effects and reasons for taking Clomid and have picked up that it can delay ovulation in some women. This is not considered a bad thing though as sometimes it can help the egg to mature before it is released.

I usually ovulate early (CD11-13) and it's crossed my mind since reading this information that perhaps my eggs are not mature enough. I don't know whether that's the case or not though.

Also, if the Clomid has delayed your ovulation by a few days then your CD21 blood test naturally won't pick up ovulation yet. Could be worth speaking to your doctor/gyny about it and they will let you know.

Sorry my input isn't better, but I'm really new to this too but think you would be better off asking your doctor as he will know your special circumstances. The difficult thing is that it's not an exact science and what happens one month can be totally different to the next in the same person. Doesn't help does it?

I don't think I would worry too much though, delayed ovulation is not the end of the World and doesn't mean you could not conceive still this month. You just need to keep BD'g to enhance you chances.

Best of luck and lots of to you.

Oooh I've just noticed that that was your first post. Welcome to BandB, you'll like it here ... a lot.

I don't think I would try to bring on your AF by the way, just let your body adjust to the Clomid. I think one lot of meds if you can get away would be best.

I intend to start mine when my AF arrives (unless I get a lucky BFP) next cycle. Also intend to take EPO (evening primrose oil) to keep my EWCM production going (I get a nice bit usually and don't want to spoil that). I'm nervous about taking the medication I have to admit, so maybe we can share experiences here as we go along. Hope it works for us both. If it works for me I think it really will be a miracle. Everything about my plumbing is perfect ... it's just my darned age. Pants isn't it?
