| Should I go to the doctors? Ok I am really not sure what to do and I know there are felloe "long-cyclers" on here so here goes:-
Came off pill 17th June - had normal bleed. Then tested for ovulation at the specified date for 28 day cycke as pre pill they had never been particularly long - no ovulation.
I have not had a period since 17th June so that would make me on about a 43 day cycle? Have done LOTS of PG test all
No sign of so rang NHS direct they suggested going to the doctors for blood test but rang docs and they said no need.
So what I am wondering is - do I just keep waiting or do I need to make an appointment? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi hun, your body could take a few cycles to get back into a regular cycle after being on the pill. My cycles have been mainly 33 days, but one or two as long as 45 days ..I'd use opk's to see when you are ovulating to give you a better idea.
Hope you get a soon! x | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | it can take a while for things to return to "normal" however - if you're worried instead of seeing you gp you could ask your local family planning clinic to run tests to make sure all your hormone levels are normal etc - they're really helpful! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Having been there in the past, sadly I think your doctor will send you away and tell you to let your body settle down for a while.
The first bleed you had when you came off the pill will have been a withdrawl bleed as opposed to period, so it impossible to tell what your cycle will settle down to but I promise you hunny, it is still early days yet. Frustrating I know when you are TTC.
I used this http://www.pukkaherbs.com/file/939c0...vari-plus.html last time and it really helped my cycle to get back to normal really quite quickly. And this time (I couldn't use the same aas I'm still breastfeeding my first child) I have used Agnus Castus and Vit B6 (I had the opposite this time - an anovulatory period every other week) and this time I ovulated within the month and my cycle appers back to what it was beofre within two months.
I don't think the doctor would be able to do anything quicker than that, as it would take that long to refer you for tests! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I agree with everything Lyns said hun, I don't think your Doc will be much help. It is of course entirely possible that you caught first month off the pill and you just haven't had a bfp yet. I was 6 weeks before I got a bfp with my last son!! Just saying it is possible but unlikely. If you have any symptoms of pregnancy then I would go to the Docs and ask for a blood test but if not then I would bide my time xxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi I agree with the above ladies I'm afraid. If you were regular before you were on the pill chances are you will settle back down to regular cycles, however it can take a few months for your body to settle. You may ovulate later than usual during those months you are settling down so you might want to try charting signs of ovulation e.g. temp, cp, cm or opks so that you know what is happening and also to reassure yourself that you are ovulating.
Hope your body settles down quickly for you hun!! |
