I'm Currently Feeling:

I also know a friend, she and her hubby tried for over a year and saw all docters. She is a lil we-rounded and one doc said she has to first loose 20kg before he can put her on any special pills/meds.

She was at the end of her rope but kept thinking positive, she always said "this is my year Im gonna get preggers" and sure enough she is 9 weeks preggers today

So my advice dont ever doubt the power of positive thinking!

Not first hand experience as I'm on cycle 12 and no LO yet! However, my best friend now has a beautiful 5 week-old baby girl after ttc 18 months.

My aunt was ttc for 7 1/2 yrs and was told she couldn't have kids. She now has 4 beautiful kids.

My in-laws were ttc 18 months before conceiving DH's older brother. They ended up with 3 boys.

They're just the stories off the top of my head. I have to keep reciting them to myself as I, too, have almost given up hoping. I haven't even been bothered with the folic acid this week during AF as I'm thinking 'What's the point? I'm not gonna get pg anyway'.

But we have to hope

This is a bit of topic and I'm sure you've already heard something similar but in a magazine recently there was a lady who was trying for a long time with no luck, she gave up wheat products and fell pregnant almost immediataly. I know theres probably a million things like that but I'd thought I'd mention it as I hadn't heard it before.

I am lucky enough to be due no 7. The only time I used a contraception was between 2 & 3.
To conceive
no 1 - straight away off pill
no 2 - 9 months
no 3 - 6 months (once off contraception)
no 4 - 5 months
no 5 - 7 months
no 6 - 12 months
no 7 - 12 months

So even though I have a gang they all still took between 5-12 months to conceive. I am now 31 so maybe age has added a few extra months on each time. So at around 29 I was between 7-12 months, hope this helps somehow. Good luck

Hi hun. PLease dn't loose hope. I know how you are feeling though. With my first we tried for near on 2 years. I came off the pill in August 03 when we got married. Tried every month - nothing. I had the tests done which said everything is fine. OH had his tests done - everything is fine with him. Finally we got referred for IVF as i was classed as unexplained infertility - when the appointment came through it was beginnning of May 2005 - i fell pg that month. Nearly 2 years after we started our jounrey. When my ds was 3 months old we had a drunkern fumble and 4 weeks later i was sat on the loo holding a positive pg test in my hands shaking thinking "WTF". DD is now 18 months old and fabulous. It really does happen.
One of OH's friends tried for 12 years to get pg - they finally adopted a baby - adn the day they collected their brand new baby she found out she was pg. I seriously think that there is a link between stress and not getting pg. I used to hate it when people said that I should relax - but i really think it is true. Hard to do i know.
sorry for crazy long post - but please don't give up - it will happen.

PS - someone i know swore by doggy style to get pg - both my children were conceived that way (sorry for TMI) - so maybe it is worth a try. I would walk to Bognor naked if someone told me that would increase my chances. Not sure why I haven't tried it yet - note to self - do it that way this month!!!!

Hi hun...First off, sorry this has become so frustrating for you...believe me I was in the same boat as you. Before my DH and I got engaged we tried for 1 1/2 years to get pregnant...nothing. After we got married we tried for 4 months got pregnant, but unfortunately m/c. I started temping, checking cp,checking EWCM 2 months ago. I didn't really find I could pinpoint ov. DH and I did our thing and hoped for the best this month. We did use preseed (great to use if you have lack of EWCM)this month which obviously helped as I never had a day that I could say I had any EWCM. Also this was the first month that I thought I wasn't going to get pregnant, as we had home renovations, inlaws visiting etc....I guess we must been more relaxed as my mind had other places to be .I'm not suggesting you tear a wall down or build a piece on your home..lol...but I would suggest doing things that make you busy. This time it took us 5 months to get our . I guess I have learned no matter what methods we try...it will happen when it is meant to. I know that probably isn't comforting to you and you hear it all the time but now that I am pregnant I believe it to be true.Good luck hun and all the best

Hon, dozens of us on here could've posted the very same post you did and indeed, we have! If you need examples of people who've conceived after 6 months of TTCing, do a post in 1st trimester and you'll find loads.

And I think that's the thing, you see. It really can take up to a year. But for us gals who like to know EVERYTHING, we simply can't fathom nor get our heads around the fact that so many people get preggo straight away and then us lot - nothing, nada! But we gotta keep the faith!

As for that book you quoted, Zita West (fertility 'expert') says the same - 6 months of clever TTCing should be enough. But remember hon, they charge thousands for 'advice' and treatment and there's nothing they'd love more to create a sense of panic among us TTCers and have us running to them for advice. Fact is, those who don't have financial gain from us TTCers (eg. the NHS) say a year is the average. So try to think positive.

x

hi hun. I know how hard it is to stay hopeful after a while. When i was 18 i started ttc my first it took 2 years for it to happen. I really thought it wasn't going to happen especially cos i was so young i thought it would happen straight away. I got pregnant with my 2nd kinda by accident straight away but that doesn't count as it was 3 months after i had given birth so i was very fertile. Then when he was one we started ttc again after a year i got a new job so we put it on hold and of course i got pregnant that month unfortunatley had a m/c beginning of april '07. Been trying ever since and it took 14 months to get another bfp. So you see it just takes some women longer that others to get pregnant. it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with you! Hope this gives you some hope. Sorry its so long!

I feel the same. we have been trying for 11 months now. I am charting, taking folic acid, etc. but nothing. it is so fustrating. some gps are good and will listen, so it is worth seeing them. the worse they can say is come back, so you won't loose out.

Hey hun I am just at the year mark of ttc. I'm currently just recovering from a m/c.

I'd decided if I wasn't pregnant at month 9 I was going to ditch the temps, ov kits etc and just go au naturale again. If I hadn't had anything by the end of the year I would go the doctors in Jan which would have been 17 months.

But at throughout April and May I lost a few pounds (although still a bit overweight) it helped my confidence a lot. I wore nice skirts and dresses and generally felt 'sexier' which made the BD much more fun! In the days before and after O I wore a lovely dress for dinner out (someone asked me what the occasion was! I was so flattered but thought telling them i was trying for a baby was maybe a bit too truthful so I just said 'for the hell of it, it's nice to make an effort for a change'!) I had one night of wearing a nice black nightie and one night of Ann Summer's 'sexy secretary' dress. Two of those occassions I used pre-seed as well. What do you know 'bfp'! Unfortunately it didn't last but it did work.

I hope the same formula might work for me next month, but I need to watch my cycle this month to try to predict my O days next month.

It will happen hun, it's just frustrating having to wait.
