Also worth a read..

Is this week's Grazia magazine.
It has an article on how to 'delay' your biological clock and increase fertility.

Who knew that rhubarb, peas and soya have a detrimental effect on female fertility? More obvious ones are aspartame, sugar, caffeine.

Definitley info worth bearing in mind.

sorry girls this might sound a little dumb but does that mean that if a woman eats quorn and soya that she is risking her fertility? i eat quorn all the time as i thought it was a healthy alternative to meat????
should i go back to meat eating then? had a quorn burger last night - feel a bit sick now!

Grazia article

Well, it's probably a bit alarmist but it's worth considering if you're desperate for a baby. Which we all are or we wouldn't be here... For example, I wouldn't give up sugar or caffeine for general health reasons even though there are reports that say they are bad for you, but I am now going to have a think about what I am prepared to give up.

It was written by a nutritionalist from the US who had a vested interest as a early 40's single woman so while it is extreme there is probably a lot of truth in what she has found out. She has now become engaged to a 36 year old (yay for toyboys ) and it going to try and prove her theories.

I'll have another look at the article but soya was one of the foods specifically mentioned because it affects hormones. This makes sense because I have read previously that it is good for menopausal women because it helps to regulate hormones - presumably calming them which may be bad when you want raging hormomes...if this makes sense.....!!
It also recommends no more than 5 units of alcohol a week (5 small glasses!) and completely giving up non organic meat because of the hormones pumped into the rest our meat.

There is also a list of fertility boosting foods.

Well worth £1.90.

Uh-oh! I think DH and I may be in a spot of trouble in that case! We're both veggie and although we eat predominantly vegetables, soya features quite heavily too.

To use the words of Pooh: "Oh bother!"

Think we may just have to carry on as we are and add it to the increasingly large mental stack of food items that someone somewhere is telling us we shouldn't eat.

Perhaps I'll feel differently if we still don't get our in another few months.

In the meantime I think I need to hunt out some vegetarians who got BFPs, just to make sure they exist.

My first thought was Asia and all the soy products they eat, and they don't seem to have problems.

Apparently it doesn't harm Asian sperm? Huh, I'd say they'd have to have more studies about it.
