| Is the doctor right? Hi all
I'm completely new to this and am looking for a bit of help and advice! I came off the pill last month and had a period immediately after finishing - 1st day of which was 17th June. As I have been on the pill for 10 years I couldn't quite remember my normal cycle length but assumed it would be around 28 days - if not seemed to be particualrly long before the pill.
This being the case I was looking to start my period had I not been pregnant around 7th July. I am now a week and bit late with no sign of the period coming - I usually know.
I was hoping I was pregnant but have done three negative tests!! I rang NHS direct to see at what point I should go to the docs as didn't want to waste docs time and she said I should make an appointment for end of week/next week but rang docs and they said they wouldn't normally doing anything for a year!!
Are they just referring to fertility treatment or would I just continue to wait if I don't get my period?
Help me I am confused! | | | | Status: Offline

| Might take a while for your cycle to settle down. I would definitely give it a month or two before going to the docs. Because that's generally all they will tell you. |

| Kat,
There is so much helpful information on this site - I'm sure you will be able to find tips on identifying ovulation. |

| Hi,
I came off the pill in June after being on for 13 years, I went to see the doctor first, and he said 'happy trying' and that it could take a year for my cycles to return to normal, and that they couldn't do anything until that happens, then for a further year after than, we need to TTC, and if nothing happens, then assistend contraception, so basically could be waiting 2 years | | | | Status: Offline
