they mean they won't help with fertility treatment for a year.

If you don't have a period for 6 month you usually get referred to a gynae.

You say that you usually know, - you don't get proper PMT (other than cramp) when you're on the pill because it's not a period, just a withdrawal bleed, all "fake" hormones, so where you feel like it's PMT, it wouldn't have been because you didn't have a FSH surge (hormone) which causes PMT symptoms, it's just the pill replicating it.

I'm Currently Feeling:

I was on the pill for 7 years. The last pill I was on stopped my periods. Once it had been 6 months since my last period. So, I stopped the pill.

About 28 days after stopping it, my period came. Had 2 more perfect cycles, with O.

Then things went crazy. I now cannot ovulate on my own, and my cycles are completely irregular. They are just too short. After that 3rd month, I haven't had a single 28-day cycle.

I think the doctor will tell you to just wait (as mine did when my periods stopped, he said it was "fine" but I got scared and stopped the pills). If you don't have a period within 3 months, go see a doctor. But it might take a while for your body to find its way again.

I don't understand how NHS works, as I am in the US, but it sounds very frustrating.

Good luck!

As I have been on the pill for 10 years I couldn't quite remember my normal cycle length but assumed it would be around 28 days - if not seemed to be particualrly long before the pill.

This being the case I was looking to start my period had I not been pregnant around 7th July. I am now a week and bit late with no sign of the period coming - I usually know.

I was hoping I was pregnant but have done three negative tests!! I rang NHS direct to see at what point I should go to the docs as didn't want to waste docs time and she said I should make an appointment for end of week/next week but rang docs and they said they wouldn't normally doing anything for a year!!

Are they just referring to fertility treatment or would I just continue to wait if I don't get my period?

Help me I am confused!
I think that is referring to whether they will do fertility treatments. If you are under 35 I think they have you try for a year.

But just coming off the pill, especially having been on it so long, your periods might be all over the map for some time.

When I came off the pill, I didn't have mine for 2 months, and then, my next one didn't come for another 1/2 year. I think it's only now starting to become more normal.

Hiya

I don't want to get your hopes up but i just came off the pill after being on it for 10 years, i came off it in april and had 2 normal periods, my period this month was due on Friday past but it never came, i tested on Saturday but it was , apparently it was waaaaaaaaay to early to test tho. I finally took a test last night and this morning and they were both . So i'm now looking forward to being a mummy. the one i did last night was very faint, and the one i did this morning was very clear. I would test again next week if there is still no sign of the wicked . Good luck hun, let us know how you get on. I think everyone is different, this may be your time.

xxx
