| Alcohol I just wondered what everyone's position is on alcohol when ttc?
When I saw my GP after my miscarriage she advised me to give up completely. I would like to so I have the best chance of conceiving but in real life it's pretty hard. If nothing else people will speculate that I already am and create even more pressure and I don't really want the boy to think I've become obsessive. We obviously discuss that there are certain times of the month we have to do certain things but other than that I wan't him to think it's as natural as possible (am I the only one?!?). Not to mention, I do like a nice glass of sav blanc.
Basically I've decided when is here it's ok to indulge a bit but at other times I will stick to a couple of glasses here and there and drive where possible for a perfect excuse.
Thanks and have a great (low alcohol) weekend.

I'm Currently Feeling: | well it was my birthday last cycle and a few friends held a bit of a bash 4 me and i dont usually drink much at all but if at party ...... but i had a few (far less than i would usually) n felt very guilty 4 it and they still were all going on about if i was preggers!!!!!
i think in future i'm just gonna steer clear totally !!!
i find it quite easy so it doesnt bother me really.
i think though in the grand scheme of things a glass of here n there will do no harm when ttc

I'm Currently Feeling: | My fertility consultant actually told me to go and have a bottle or two of wine... So of course I obeyed him!!!
I did read somewhere that alcohol doesn't damage the foetus in very early pregnancy (up until approx 6 weeks) as the foetus isn't drawing on our blood supply until around that time, but then I've read in other places that alcohol should be avoided completely for at least three months before ttc.
I'm not a big drinker anyway, and it helps that DH doesn't drink at all. I would buy a bottle of red wine and it'll last me about three nights (one glass a night) and then I probably won't bother for another week or two. I guess there's no hard and fast rule when ttc - but moderation is probably the best option.
Hope that makes sense
xx
PS There is always the going out, getting pissed, and having a quickie option. That tends to work doesn't it?? |

| Haha Liked the 'quickie' bit and yes it is sod's law.
My miscarried baby was conceived on a very drunken night in Amsterdam when we were so noisy reception had to call and tell us to be quiet
I bet it will take us months.
Although it is quite telling that it's the first time I went straight to sleep (er, coma) without jumping up to go to the loo so now I make sure my make up is off and I have cleaned my teeth before we dtd. Sorry tmi!! | | | | Status: Offline

I don't drink very much anyway but don't tend to drink much or at all during the 2ww. As for the rest of the time, I'll have a glass or two of wine when I feel like it. I agree with everything in moderation. This ttc thing is stressful enough as it is without denying ourselves everything we enjoy! |

| I don't drink at all and don't miss it either. I'm sure a glass here and there is fine leading up to ov, but I don't think it's a good idea to drink more than a glass or so while there is any chance of a pregnancy. Just my opinion.

I'm Currently Feeling: | I gave up over 2 years ago, so have been completely clear from it for yonks, but it still took me a year to conceive, and then I MCed, so I don't think giving up helps conceiving or healthy pregnancy to be honest.
I'm staying off it completely, but that is a personal choice. Also, as I'm not sure what my body might do if I suddenly started drinking again. Might go into shock!!
I would say that drinking a bit when TTC is not going to cause problems. Lots of ladies on here don't drink in the 2WW. That might be a good idea maybe.
Good Luck and sorry to hear about your MC.
