A lot of elderly people are prescribed 75mg of aspirin to thin the blood to try and prevent strokes and heart problems. I've seen 75mg aspirin to buy off the shelf in Tesco. Not sure how much it is but probably not too dear.

It is only about £2.00 for a month supply (28 ) thinking about it a prescription is a lot more than that, so when you go to the pharmacy to take your prescription in, ask if they sell it off the shelf and how much it is, no point in spending eight pound when no need to.

Well the dosage Ive been given is 75mg. The reason I asked for a prescription from my doctor as I really wanted his approval to take it. I live in wales so our prescriptions are actually free.

Plus I go to see the consultant at the end of aug so it will be on my records that my doc has prescribed me the aspirin and I havnt just taken it off my own back.

He has advised me to start taking it asap and if/when I get a I will have to keep taking it right until the end.

Ijust feel better about it, having my docs approval.

If you rworried about it, maybe talk with your doc about taking aspirin, from what ive heard and read it cant do any harm with it being a low dose.. xxx
