Help!!!

TTC is really getting to me right now. I'm in my tww - again!! I've lost count of how many of these I've gone through and it is now really really getting to me. I don't know how many more cycles I can manage and I'm really thinking of giving up.

I got my letter from the hospital saying that I'm on the waiting list for IVF and they'll be in touch when I reach the top - which could take 6-7 months private, and 12-13 months NHS. I'm really getting pissed off with it all.

Moan over - sorry guys!!

We were told that as my OH has a child (21 years old) from previous marriage I am not entitled to ANY free help with fertility!

I don't get that. Just because he has a child already shouldn't make a difference. I know of a couple that work with a friend of mine, who paid for a private cycle of IVF and were successful first time round. They then decided to try for number 2 and went for their NHS treatment as they hadn't had it. How can it vary so much from one trust area to another? It doesn't make sense.

We are having our first cycle 'privately' although we are going to the hospital and using the same staff, same drugs, and same equipment as is used for NHS treatment - we're simply paying for the free slots that are available that aren't funded by the government. It is roughly half the price of the 'private' clinic in Belfast. Could that be an option for you?

xx

Very true - but because we are normal, honest, sensible people, we have to fight to get free stuff!! Grrr!!
