I'm Currently Feeling: | any smarties out there? I understand that u are pregnant calculted but the 1st day of ur last . I know then u can get put forward or back depening on ovulation times etc
Now my question is if u are pregnant and know when u ovulated is that the important part or doe the egg and sperm not start growing intill it implants? I mean say 2 people ovulate on same day but ome implants 5 days later and the other 13 days later. Would that mean that the 1st scan would show the baby that implanted on the 5 day 8 days olders than the baby that implanted on the 13th day? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey PP
Don't think that the scan can be 100% precise which is why they give you an estimated due date with 2 weeks either side/give or take.
I know my friend thought she was 2 weeks further along than she was but after the scan they put her back 2 weeks - any less than that and i'm not sure they could notice the difference as it would be marginal?
Fingers crossed for you hun - i'm 4 days late but ovulated late and only BFN so far - very frustrating and stressful! x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey porkpie
The reason the first day of your last period is used is that is usually the only date in your cycle from which you can reasonably calculate from as its a day when you can guarantee you are not pregnant. All dates are just estimates. If you know you ovulated at a particular date just tell the docs you know you ovulated at that point. They usually still leave the LMP date the same and then check with scans. Scans arent totally accurate anyway.. they are often up to 25% out in term sof measurements and estimates because they are talking about mm's in terms of size. Even maternal scans are out by quite a bit when it comes to estimating weights of full size babies etc.Its really common women dont know their dates exactly and therefore the booking scan is the check to see exactly how far along you are. Dont worry they will work around it. Its no biggie so dont fret...as long as your bfp stays bfp dont worry!! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Im hoping for an early scan to ensure that i dont have another blighed ovum so i know a few days can make a big differnece as with my son he wasnt there the 1st scan then a week later he was. I think i would be upset if i went and it was an empty sac again. I think probably 7 weeks should show it all |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thing is under 5 weeks you wont see anything anyway as the machines dont have the resolution to pick up anything smaller.. what a scan at 5 weeks can show you is the sac but wont show you the fetal pole (baby) inside it.. you need to be over 5-6 weeks to usually be eligible to get scanned and of course any time after that.. essentially if you calculate 6 weeks from ovulation bearing in mind it can take several days to implant then you SHOULD see everything on the scan.. bear in mind unless you KNOW you ovulated you may still be guessing..go to your gp and discuss it and they will let you know when you can get scanned.. i'd go for about 6 weeks post your ovulation date will be the safest and least worrying time to do it.. do it before and it may just cause you more anxiety!!
Porkpie-darling just relax and enjoy the moment.. you've wanted this so badly for so long (and i think we all know how that feels) just take time out to enjoy it and take it all in- put thinking about scans and practical stuff aside just for one day, spend some quality time with your man and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!! | | | | Status: Offline
