Some dumb questions about temping

Good Morning Ladies,

I wanted to ask some questions about temping...I'm sorry if they've been asked before, but I wanted to clarify somethings before I started on next cycle.

I understand that the temps need to be taken each day at the same time, but,

a) If it's not possible to take them as soon as you open your eyes and without moving...what would you expect the temp to do when you move - drop or increase?

b) If I keep the BBT in the bathroom, and only take 5 steps from bed to bathroom, then take temp at same time everyday...will that still work? (Am worried that BBT makes 7 whiny beeps, and will wind OH up at 6.30am every morning)

c) What if you're in a different place, ie with different bedding, in a different bedroom/house? (I'm currently flitting between own home & Ma's, due to builders. My own bed is cooler room, and I don't have a 15 tog duvet in the summer, like my Ma does). Will it affect the temps over the cycle?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Lots of to all in the meantime!!

not sure about the increase or decrease - i asked this a while ago and didn't get an answer. You can't move then take it as it will affect it. Not being in your own bed shouldn't affect it too much. When i was away from home i made a note so i knew that if the temps were different it might have been because of that, Good luck!

I have just posted a similar secnario in cd1 July cycle here we go again.

I don't honestly know, cos i EXPECTED my temp to increase on moving but it decreased? I have no idea, and sureky a thicker duvet wld affect it cos you'd be warmer, by so many .'s.

So when ya find an answer let me know too!

I think that bedding won't make a difference, as your internal body temperature should stay fairly constant despite your environment. i.e. on a hot day in the sun, our actual body temp stays normal and we dont have a high temp 'inside'. We just feel hot cos our vessels are all dilating and trying to get rid of the heat, so that we stay stable inside. This is unlike cold-bloodied animals like snakes etc who depend on the outside environment to make their blood stay at certain temperatures. (I feel like David Bellamy....sorry if that sounded like a nature lecture!)

I think once you move, you basal body temp raises. I used to take temp by bed and DH didnt even wake up!! (We are having a little break from charting). However, if I got up earlier or later it definitely altered the temp and it really shows on the chart. I just put a little note. Earlier seems to be lower and later higher, but thats just my experience.

Basal body temperature should be taken first thing in the morning, before any physical activity and after your body has completely rested. all women have their core body temperature that rise slightly at the onset of ovulation. so using a diff room or bed wnt make any diff. if you move about the temp will chang all the time coz of the house temp could warm u up or cool you down. can you not do it in bed and then put it under the blanket or pillow untill it stops beeping?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_...dy_temperature

this shows a graph of how normal body temperature fluctuates throughthout the DAY (not cycle)

think the best thing is to do what you can and just keep notes on the chart. If the chart doesn't make sense, then you might have to try and reduce some of your confounding factors (different environments etc). If it still makes sense, then you're doing something right!!
