I'm Currently Feeling: | Telling the parents What do you reckon about this…
So I got my this morning. Obviously I’m happy about this, but I am approaching it with caution as it’s early days yet and a lot can happen in the next few weeks. I want to tell my mum and dad and I know they’ll be happy for us but at the same time, this happened a lot quicker than we thought it might and we have this relocation coming up. I just have this feeling my mum will not be overjoyed. I think she will think we should have held off ttc until we were settled up in Yorkshire. (And she is right, we should have done but we got impatient!)
I’m seeing my parents on Saturday, but I’m not seeing the doctor until Monday. This morning I decided to wait until I’d seen the doc before telling our parents, but over the day I’ve been getting twitchy and I do want to tell my mum in person rather than over the phone. I don’t see her often, what with me being in Bristol and her being in Yorkshire! And I certainly don’t want to wait too long before I tell her.
So do I tell mum and dad on Saturday or wait? And when I do tell her, any tips for how to do it to get the joyous response that I hope she will have?!
(Rather than jumping straight over to the Pregnancy forum I’m sticking around here atm, until I get a bit more used to this whole thing, if that’s alright with you guys) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Does she know you were actively ttc? or jsut that you were planning to..
If she didnt know then maybe say it was planned to ttc when you moved but fate has decided now is the right time. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm kinda the same as you - still 5 days till I test but fingers crossed as then my Mum is coming for a visit a week later and I want to tell her in person as well rather than over the phone - I live in Cumbria and my Mum down in Surrey so I don't see her very often. Will be a massive shock to her as after having my son I swore I wouldn't do it again but then I met my current DH and its funny what meeting yr soulmate does for yr plans!!!!
As for how to tell them - mayb when you answer the door to them you could greet them as grandma & grandad!!!!!
Btw shifter - i used to live just down the m4 from you in Swindon until we relocated up to cumbria just over a month ago now!!!! |

She knows we are wanting to ttc and she caught me buying folic acid a few weeks ago and we had a conversation about it all. I told her I had come off the pill and said we would see what happened but it would probably take a few months! Quote:

Awww I wouldn't worry at all! However you tell them they are going to be over the moon and I'm sure your mum won't be thinking you should've waited. It you really think that's the case, then just pretend it was a little "accident"
I can't see why she would be too bothered - it's not that far away. I live thousands of miles away from my parents! (Mind you, once I'd had LO they bought a house over here too....) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Like the other ladies ..I wouldn't worry too much. Even if she is shocked and not as excited as you had hoped at first. She is gonna be a grandma...how exciting is that, everyone loves a new baby!!! My brother went through this when he got his gf pregnant..he was 20 and going to school. At first my mom was upset then one day she snapped out of it. The baby was coming whether she excepted it or not and she just went with it. The next week she was out buying baby clothes! So good luck telling her...it's great news! |
