I'm Currently Feeling: | Hmmm, tis a difficult one indeed. I completely understand the need for reassurance during early pregnancy as I've had a m/c also. With this pregnancy the early days were tough thinking of the 'what ifs'... analysing every tweek and twinge, running to the loo lots to check if I was bleeding (sorry if tmi)...... BUT I personally couldn't have lied to get an early scan.... there are some reasons for this..... firstly the EPAU's are crammed anyway, but if I ever foud out there were girls in there using valuable time just to get 'peace of mind' while I had to wait to get my diagnosis and treatment - I would be fuming as it draws out an already traumatic process - as you have also experienced. I feel a private scan can be arranged for reassurance and the NHS left alone for emergencies.
Also, I'm a great believer in karma and by lying about such a thing to me was tempting fate and almost 'inviting' an actual bleed to take place as 'punishment' for the manipulation - but like I said, that's rooted in my own belief systems.
I do feel for you very much, and have been there myself!!!! PLease remember that even if you had an early scan in whatever way, it will not reassure you for long.... you'll be on cloud 9 for probably 24 hours and then the fears set right back in! so short of getting your own scanning machine, this is a reality we're all faced with and somehow have to get through it (lots of suport from baby and bump goes a long way!)
Sorry to sound unsupportive chick! Lots of hoping and looking after myself got me through the 1st 12 weeks.... and sadly the worries haven't ended there.
I hope you come to a decision that's right for you. xxxxxx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | When we decide to TTC after this M/C and get a BFP i'll be demanding an early scan. I think if you've had a M/C then you should have the option to be scanned early if it wll put your mind at rest. It's not wasting anyones time, the health of mother and baby should be there first concern and if your going to be worried sick till you get your scan that isn't healthy for anyone.
Good luck hin and when the time comes bloody well kick off and stand your ground |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi hun,
I know I didn't have a m/c but I would be feeling exactly the same way as you if I had. Luckily I've been told if I get a bfp in the future then I will be able to have an ealry scan as our last baby was stillborn.
I do know though that if you call the EPAU and tell them you are very anxious and explain the situation then I'm sure they could fit you in |

| I don't want to sound negative either, but I had a booking scan at 9 weeks with my last pregnancy. That put my mind at rest and I was on cloud 9. However I had another scan at 13 weeks for a different reason and it showed a missed miscarriage. Baby looked as if it died about at about 10 weeks.
So really the 9 week scan showed me nothing except the baby was ok on the day I had that scan.
Interestingly, my experience has made me want the opposite! If I can get pregnant again, I want my scan later at 12-13 weeks, so that if its ok then I know at least we've got further than we did last time.
Suppose we are all different and shaped by the experiences we have already had. You have to do what you are comfortable with. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. | | | | Status: Offline

I hope you come to a decision that's right for you. xxxxxx | I understand what u are saying totaly. I have a 2 yr old and risked it and i understand that anything can happen anytime but just to go to a scan to be told that there is no baby was awful
I will hopefully get the doc to book me a scan as i think its in my interest for my menta health.
P.S I know people just lie to have a peek at the baby but i swear its just for me to make sure that there is one |
