| Just to reiterate that chlamydia can definitely lie dormant for years, so it's worth checking in anyone who has has symptoms like discharge or irregular bleeding. In some parts of the country they have rolled out screening programmes where anyone under 25 can get tested even if they don't have symptoms (ie in those areas you can go to GP with earache and can also have the test for chlamydia!) just because its quite common and people don't know they've got it.
If Shifter is worried about getting tested now in a monogamous relationship - you can either get it done when you next go for a smear (some GUM clinics will take a smear for you and can test for all STIs at the same time) or you can even buy self-tests online (I don't know how effective they are though).
Hope all goes well. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey
Why dont you find some info on it for OH as you could have had it for a while....plus dont be embarrassed as you are getting it checked out....chlamydia can really scar your tubes if left untreated and can harm your fertility.
And if it isnt then you can relax and move on to find out why you bled!
Good Luck and keep strong!

Hope all goes well. | Thanks. Wish I'd thought of it when I went for my first smear last year. Never mind. I might try a home test, or go for a "health check". But really, I'm not that worried any more. It was one of those things I did worry about when it became known how common it is and when I thought back to my youth!
Thing is, the boyfriend in question gave me absolutely no reason for concern then or for a long time afterwards, it was only when I found out what had happened to him after we parted ways that doubts began to creep in. Not even doubt about his fidelity, I'm certain that wasn't a problem. Blah, sorry, am rambling. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | if its chlamydia you may have had it for years and not known, the scary thing about the sti is that it can be completely symptomless and can affect fertility. The good thing is that you are getting tested for it and if thats what it is then you can get treated for it, saying that it may just be a cautionery measure.
good luck regardless xx |
