Conception late in cycle?

Having waited for ages to start TTC, husband and I started on day 25 of a pretty regular 28-31 approx day cycle. We weren't really expecting much as it was so late in my cycle however, since day 27 I've felt faintly nauseated continuously and had a little heartburn - unusual for me. I'm also off my food which is very unusual for me! I had tender breasts (usual for me before a period) from around day 26 which are still tender but not as much as they were. I've been exhausted which is also unusual, especially as I've just had a week of holiday doing very little. I've had a little cramping on and off for the past couple of days - really mild, not enough to be called pain. When I get my period, I usually get either really bad cramps or nothing at all. Yesterday, I had a tiny speck of reddish blood but nothing since. I did a HPT yesterday (today is day 30) which was negative - I guess the HCG levels would be too low anyway to be picked up. I don't know if the nausea is just thinking too much about this or whether it's real. I've not used any OPK to see when I'm ovulating. How soon have other ladies felt pregnancy symptoms and has anyone else conceived that late on in a cycle?

Hi there and welcome to bnb!

I guess you aren't charting and don't know when you probably ov'd?

The thing is you could ov earlier or later, most women have a spooky month from time to time. In either scenario there could be spotting - may be you ov'd early and the spotting is af coming a couple of days earlier, or may be you ov'd quite late, and the spotting is related to ovulation. Or it could be just random spotting (check out my egg chart below if you want to see some fantastic random spotting!! (it's the little ****** from 6po!)) due to your hormone levels or something else. 5 days after a bd is definitely too early to be testing - you wouldn't be able to pick up any hcg till at least 8dpo and in most cases more like 13-14. Hang on in there and if AF stays away test again in a few days!

Thanks - nope, not charting ovulation yet but will probably start if AF makes an appearance in the next few days. I'm still feeling sick but am not sure if it's just nerves about waiting for AF/no AF. I've been cramping quite a lot yesterday evening and this morning but no blood so far. I've heroically held off testing so far and will do a HPT in the next couple of days if still no AF.

Still no bleeding today. Not so many crampy sensations today either although I have had a few little twinges. I had a tiny little bit of very pale brown discharge today (sorry if TMI!) but nothing else so far. I might just crack tomorrow and do a HPT - or if I put my sensible hat on I might wait another day or so when I know any potential HCG will be higher. Felt sick all day but now able to tuck into Pringles with a vengance!
