Certain drugs such as diuretics and promethazine (an antihistamine) may also cause false-negative urine results


just found this on another site, wonder is my hayfever tabs interferring with my hpts

I'm quite surprised because i would have thought that only if HCG is present would you get a ?

I'm Currently Feeling: 


The last time i did a hpt it stated very clearly which drugs would interfer with the result, none of the above were on it. Only certain fertility drugs but even then only a couple. The diuretics speaks for themselves as they would make you go more often diluting your wee, thus not picking up hcg at an early stage.

Im no expert on the antihistamines but simply judging from what is said on the pack (the new First Response) i find this hard to believe.. but then ive been wrong before

Simply put, if you have hcg in your wee it will pick it up- sooner or later..but this is an individual thing anyway..for some women it takes a while to reach a readable level.

Id be interested to read anyway, though

I suffer from hayfever so was lured into a bit of research after reading this post! It seems Promethazine can cause both increased and decreased levels of hcg ??? anyways here's the link I found (it's right at the end)

ONG thats scarey! God how the hell can we ever know if we have a proper then. I dont have hay fever but this is scarey
