Query bout smears and TTC

I am on CD 7 it's my first AF after m/c. I wanted to get a smear done to make sure I am ok and that there wasn't something wrong that caused the m/c and it is due (I've had a letter) but am due to ovulate end of next week, and really want to catch this cycle. However if I do have one done and then the results are not good I may have already caught, what would I do then?

Does anyone know how long the results take to come back from a smear, I can't remember. I didn't want to go for one before cause they told me to leave it when i was pregnant till at least 6 weeks after I had the baby, then I miscarried and had a bit of an ordeal so thought I'd wait for my first AF to come and go but now I'm in a bit of a quandry. Any advice???

I would recommend calling your doc office, make them aware of your situation and ask if it would be a good idea. I didn't have one after my m/c, and my doc said it wasn't necessary. Good luck hun

I had one when I came off the pill in Oct, but not sure how long the results took sorry. I didn't have to have one done after m/c, as long as everything cleared itself then there should be no problems

Smile

Hiya, I had a smear on 31st of May and had a letter yesterday confirming everything was all clear so it takes around 3 1/2 weeks. I was really worried when I saw the letter I was under the impression it took 6-8 weeks unless something is wrong so I was very nervous opening the letter. I told the nurse before she carried out the smear that we are TTC but she didnt ask if it was possible that I was pregnant so Im assuming it will be ok. I do agree with Dee_H to call the doc and check first.

Hope you get your very soon

xx

Just thought I'd add my bit of info..... if by any slim chance your smear result returns as 'abnormal' (meaning they want to look into it further) and in the mean time if you discover you are pregnant, they will look at you and treat you (if they need to) after you have had your baby.

Not sure about the circumstances of your m/c, but if they were 'early' i.e. 1st trimester, then your cervix would not have had any part in your loss. However if they were 'late' 2nd trimester then there may be a suspicion your cervix may be weak..... so the hospital monitors you super carefully.

Hope this helps? Try not to worry too much chick. Have the smear - it can't hurt, some women have them during pregnancy anyway.

Good luck for that BFP
