I'm Currently Feeling: | How long does an egg live? I've read so many conflicting things about this, and wondered what everyone here thinks. I' pretty sure I OVed evening, as I got the burning pain that I usually get just after I got my positive OPK. I usually feel OV the next day after a postive OPK, but this time seems to be different.
We BDed last night, and trying to work out if it's worth it again tonight. OH is on a late shift and won't be in till after 10pm and he's really tired after a late shift. Don't want to insist and risk making him grumpy unless it's really worth it.
So: do our little eggs live for 12 hours or is it more like 24?

I'm Currently Feeling: | I thought it was 24-36 hours before the egg disintegrates and sperm can live for up to 5days if conditions are right. If not the swimmers die within a couple of hours.

I'm Currently Feeling: | 12-24 hours for the egg, sperm is anywhere from 2 hours to a maximum of 5 days but its got to be super de duper fertile cm and super de dooper sperm so 3 days in fertile cm is more realistic |

I'm Currently Feeling: | and Zita West said it could be as little as 8 hours or up to 24 but the lifespan is short if the sperm don't get into it!
I know that the sperm have to be waiting when the egg is released to fertilise it... that much i do remember!! |

| The way I always understood it was that you are fertile for up to 24 hours after the egg has actually been released.....but you are fertile for a few days before as the sperm can hang around a few days as it is nourished by our EWCM. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Eeeek so what happens if you're like me and not getting a huge amount of ewcm at the mo? Or at least not much that's made it's way to be noticed on my pants (sorry tmi!!!). That's a hell of a timing thing.....
So do we think there's not much point in bding coming up to ov unless you've got lots of ewcm to preserve the eggie??? Worried now! |

Don't panic! - Not just EWCM is the only fertile CM we have...I very often had scant EWCM....you just time your BD'ing according to your wettest CM, which is still fertile CM and can nourish the little spermies. |
