Multi Vits / Extra Vits - What do you recommend?

Hi ladies,

Hoping for a little assistance and I know you're the ladies to ask...

Starting the 'ttc journey' this month, but I have been stalking this site for some time! I want to be as prepared as possible so can you tell me what mulitvitamins you would recommend for hubbie and I? Currently we are taking folic acid, mutivit with added zinc and he takes cod liver oil.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks... x.

Im just taking folic acid and my oh stadard multivitamins but i know u can get multivitamins for men ttc and pregnacare for woman. I think u have to be careful of normal multivitamins as there is sum that u cant take when ttc (i think vit a). Tho im sure sum1 else will write and tell u

Hiya,

Im on pre natals (tesco's or pregnacare or similar) vit b complex, primrose tabs, agnus castus and baby (low mg) aspirin... its a lot. But depending on what you wanna take all you need to do is get the prenatals and something with zinc for the oh- good for spermies!

Good luck, babe!

Hi there...I can only say what me and OH did.

I started by loosing weight with WW which lead to us eating more healthy, we also started to regularly excersise too. We both started on multi vitamins, and 3 months before ttc I started to take folic acid too(I didnt know how many month in advance and I liked the sound of 3!) My OH started taking zinc the month before, and ate loads of tomato soup too. Neither of us smoke, I barely drink ever(maybe at xmas!) OH has cut back dramatically.

But other than a good multivit and folic acid, zinc for OH nothing much else. I do have a tesco own brand conception/pregnancy all in one vitamin I bought but waiting til I finish my folic acid packet before I use that as I will become confused!

Thanks for the replies, looks like it isn't going to be a straight forward choice though as there are quite a few options there! Been on the folic acid for 4months, so think I may alter my multi vit to a more tailored one for ttc & leave hubbie on the multivit with added zinc, thanks for that.

Omi - what is the baby asprin for? And the Agnus Castus???

Oh this is is a whole new world - I am soooo confused!!! x.

Hi there, I have been taking pregnacare for about six months now and DH has been taking Wellman tablets for about 3 months. He was diagnosed with poor sperm motility and I am now seven weeks pregnant!!! Not sure if its the tablets or not but they are certainly woth a try!!

Vitamin C - another one!!! My neighbour swore by this and sent her husband off to work everyday with 4 oranges in with his lunch. It made me smile when she told me but it did only take them 4 months. Maybe worth a try ;-)

Hi, you can get them in boots. They are made by the makers of pregnacare, vitabiotics. They are a multivitimin with all the nutrients to make DH in tip top reproductive condition, aparently!!
