I'm Currently Feeling: | What can YOU offer your child / to be? This is mainly for fun but also real for the future but what qualities do you feel you have or want to pass onto your child?
mine are:
- to help them to understand the need not to get in debt! and to explain about my experiences.
- to teach them to value everyone, to not bully for diabilities, looks, weight etc
and
- to teach them to respect people - i dont think there is enough of this now a days! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hi Luisa, great thread!!
I think i'll pass on what my mum always said to me. Which is not to let other people define you! That a great personality and intelligence take you anywhere you want. And that having a sense of humour and keeping the child within is as important as being an honest, decent person with convictions.
From OH i hope our child will inherit calmness, sensibility, an even tempered nature who is rational and values hard work, responsibility and kindness.
I think between the two of us we'll have a good shot at an even balance between silly (me ) and sensible (oh ), LOL!!!
Oh, i think what you said about respect people etc is very true..which is why my mum always said not to let other people define me. 'Different is good' is what she used to say- clever lady! Got me through some tough times, let me tell you!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Good discussion topic
I would like to pass on to my child:
- my enthusiasm for play. Children should be allowed to be children and play for plays sake getting messy, muddy, using their imagination, challenging themselves and being given the freedom to play as they wish. We wrap children in cotton wool too much - they should be out playing in fields, climbing trees etc without an overprotective adult saying oh you don't want to be doing that!
- a sense of compassion. I would like my child to develop an understanding of how others feel and see things from their viewpoint. |

| Lovely thread! I will teach them not to discrimate and to discover what they can about a person b4 judging them. To be strong and confident. To follow their dreams and individual talents, not let someone tell them what they ought to do or be. To protect and help those who are less fortunate and / or are picked on. To appreciate what they have in life. To take an interest in current affairs and world issues, and for chrissakes vote! To be positive and smile and have fun.
My OH will teach them how to be healthy and respect their body by eating well and exercising. To be calm and collected. Not to turn to violence. To value family and friendship. To respect others, and not be loud and obnoxious. O, and how to be vain, like him :-)
If I have a daughter and she starts TTCing in many many years, I'll tell her to check out a certain site her ma once used called Baby and Bump :-) I won't tell her to 'relax and it'll happen' cos I fear she might punch me! x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'd make sure my family do to others as they would have done to them - that way they should (hopefully) be honest, decent people. I hope they will enjoy learning lots of new things, enjoy each day for what it is, and live life to the full.
Oh - and respect their elders, so that they look after their old mum and dad when the time comes.
xx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would hope to pass on
A love of the outdoors and nature, lots of outdoor sports like cycling, climbing, skiing, hiking and a love of animals
Knowing they are loved and being secure and confident, to act calmly and think things through (that will come from OH )
The ability to communicate to other children and adults alike (I adore kids who will chat to adults happily)
OH's brains (he has an IQ of 176) please please let the kids have even a fraction of his academic ability!
An acceptance of other people, of their beliefs and customs and an interest in the world around them
An adventurous spirit and knowledge they are supported in following their own path
Generally to be kind decent people, confident and out-going and kind |
