Unhappy

I was fobbed off by my doc

I am furious with my doc. She said that because i am only 25, i have got ages yet before i need to worry. She said i was fat, and that was the reason for the missed periods. Yes, i am a little over my ideal weight if i am hosest, i am 5 ft 5 and weighed 14 1/2 stone last night, although that was fully clothed, in jeans and walking boots. Last time i weighted my self was in january, and i was 14.2 I have always been around the same weight, and infact i think i have lossed some weight.

I did push for a blood test, and a lab urine test, although she assures me that they will be clear, and i am just fat.

She was so blunt about it. I got home and sobbed. i feel that i have been fobbed off.

That was REALLY rude of your doctor, there is a way to say something subtly and nice.

Go to a different GP hun.

Definitely have a good go of TTC (eg bd around ovulation) before you start to worry but still, your GP was way out of line.

What were you after? A progesterone test or something?

I hope you feel better soon

i was hoping for some kind of answers i think. i don't know what, but i felt that i was not really listened to, or taken seriously.

I have missed 2 periods, next one due next week. I want to have a family, and don't want to leave this untreated if it may cause me problems in the future.

That is really rude I hate it when they use the whole your still young line and they don't even consider looking at you Is she stupid or something it's still something to look at you never know if there's something that's really wrong and they can give you something to regulate you.
I used to have missed periods and then they would be extremely heavy and painful when I did get them I went to a doc and of course he told me a probable cause could be my weight but he still did tests even ultrasounds and we found out I'm anemic, I have a tilted uterus, and a few cysts which could have caused the pain and I was only about 17 or 18 when he did that. My point is that it doesn't matter what age you are at all you could still have other causes besides being overweight he let me know that could be the reason but he still tested to be sure and we found something else.

I think you need a better more understanding doctor. xGLx

The other doc's are male, and i felt awkward about speaking to them about this, i thought a woman would be more understanding. how wrong was i.

weight gets blamed on everything - fat lasses (alot bigger than me and a hell of a lot bigger than you!!) lose their periods because of being so fat. I think the lass on the documentry was well over 30 stones! ANyway, she was out of order huni. Good luck with the blood tests though x
