I'm Currently Feeling: | That sucks Steph i'm so sorry.
have you guys been TTC for long?
I'm only a few pounds less than you and we have been going for over 6 months now - no joy as yet.
Have been reading a few books and also had a chat to the nurse at my doctors practice who gently suggested that my fertility could be improved with some weightloss and a few dietary changes. What she recommended is pretty much what is in Zita Wests book.
I was kinda burying my head in the sand as i was sure we'd still fall but now i'm thinking that maybe for my health and that of my future bubba's health i might shift some pounds now. The nurse said imagine how i would feel if i can 2st during pregnancy - i think i would feel shocking and like a beached whale!!
So for the past week i've been cutting down and hopefully by this time next month i will be half a stone lighter. Losing some pounds might help and it will certainly make me feel better about it all. I have pretty crap self esteem too so whilst i might not turn into a super model over night, positive changes might turn me into Super Rosh!!
Good luck hun xx |

| Silly moo, that's so rude.
It is proven that being a good weight helps conception but still, she shouldn't have been so blunt.
If I were you, I'd change drs. I would also look into dropping a few pounds. Hell, what's the harm? My mate tried for 2 years to no avail. She has massively irregular periods so her dr (kindly) recommended she lose some weight. She lost a stone and a half and her periods became regular and hey presto, conceived, yay! Yeh, OK, so it's used as an excuse but it's a medical fact: you're more fertile if you're at your ideal weight. Many people prove this wrong though. x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | oh hun...that sounds awful....i suppose your doctor is 'perfect' though?!
seriously though, i would change doctor. I changed dotors a few years ago, as he said i was making up a story about how much pain i was in.....new doctor believed me though...it turned out to be arthritis....!
many of us might be fat, but then, as long as we are happy, and love ourselves, then no-one can judge us.
you take care...

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks guys, you have all been a great help.
OH and i have been talking about i, i am going to go and see another doc there, one that i get on with, although he is male, i guess i will just have to deal with it. Alternativly i will try and move doc's. It is just i have been with them my whole life, and i feel "safe" there, i don't really want to move. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | How rude!
Male docs are better because they don't really know what it's like for us women and they will always have to deal with that truth! A woman doc can compare you to herself.
Zita West book is good as Trix and other recommend! Unless you're 35 or over like me and then she pee'd me off about me being old in fertility terms!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bl**dy GP's! Seriously, just not even worth going to see sometimes! They know a little bit about not a lot!
My advice would be to definitely change. Don't be scared just because you've been with them all your life - you'll find a much nicer doc i am sure.
I think i would push the angle as well that this isn't about "wanting a baby now". I think Drs sometimes just see TTC-ers as impatient women wanting to be pg right now! It's not just about that though, its about piece of mind and knowing everything is OK with your body. Push them on this and say the worry of not knowing what's going on is really affecting your life. That's why you want further tests - it's not just necessarily about wanting to get pg right this very minute (white lie never hurts!)!!!! |
