Question

Temping experts help pls...

Where do i begin? My temps are pretty consistent and i don't have to set an alarm as my body clock wakes me up within the same hour everyday. This month i discarded a few temps (well actually the 3 when i had been drinking the night before and wasn't at home in my bed, as they were really high) Now this morning i had a nice temp rise but i noticed that i toss and turn in bed and had involuntary twitches which woke me up - so basically a bit of movement just before i temped. So:
  • will this affect it?
  • do temps go up or down if you move before temping?
  • Also when i turn over, i glance at the clock such as an hour and a half before this mornings normal temp time - do you think this is ok because i didn't get up, just closed my eyes and went back to sleep?

If you look at my compared graphs on FF the last 3 charts all have the same temp today but this month is my lowest coverline?

Sorry for the ramble -i'm just hoping. I suppose i could wait for tomorrow and see if they drop back down?
Thanks in advance!

Been temping on ff for 3 years, i dont think it makes me a pro though lol

I dont think movements that you describe will make any difference, getting out of bed and walking around makes a difference and waking much later/earlier does aswell, your chart looks totally normal.

Good luck hun

im more interested in the is bit .... " i had been drinking the night before and wasn't at home in my bed"

is thee something you want to tell us?? lol only joking!!

Hi Tansey,

Your chart looks just fine, so don't give it a second thought. Your cover line is only a visual tool on your graph and bears no significance to how well or not so well your temps are doing. In other words, it tells you nothing. You can change it if you want to match other charts, but I wouldn't bother.

The movements you describe are minimal and will only affect your temps by a titchy witchy bit ... again not worth worrying about. As mentioned, walking around and getting up have an effect that would spoil your graph, but not glancing at the clock or lying there for a couple of minutes. Your temp will change quite a bit if you lie awake for say an hour so don't do this whatever you do.

I wouldn't make any alterations to them at all either, so don't be tempted to adjust them. The most important thing to remember is that no matter what temperature you put into your chart, it won't make you pregnant. That's my attitude ... I just do my best and know that by the end of the cycle, no matter what shape it is, I will either be pregnant or not.

Hope this helps.

PS: Tansey I've just noticed that you have set your overlay charts to show temps linked at ovulation AND your coverline. I chose just ovulation and found the charts look more realistic. Because the coverline is just a visual tool and has no scientific basis, I leave it out and just match temperatures from all the cycles. Try this out and see what your charts tell you then ... I think you will get a better result.
