| OPK question...
I have been taking opk tests everyday and yesterday I finally got a positive! So my husband and I did our thing. Just out of curiosity, I took another one today and it was negative. Is that normal? I know it predicts your ovulation 24-36 hours in advance but it hasnt even been 24 hours yet since I last tested so I dont know if I ovulated already or maybe the test was inaccurate? I know you ladies know alot about ttc so I will greatly appreciate your opinion on this and advice you may have. Thank you so much 
Oh and on the instructions it says to limit my intake of fluids 2 or 3 hours before I test because I guess it dilutes the urine...on the 2nd test I took (the neg) I did have quite a bit of soda to drink before I tested so could that affect my results? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling:  | Don't stress honey, the LH surge can someone only last for a few hours. Some women test around lunch time with a + and by nighttime its back to a -. So don't panic, I'm sure you caught the surge fine.

I used CB OPK and get a smiley one day and nothing the next!
If you have a regular cycle then i would BD a few days before you ovulate and on the day x x good luck |

I'm Currently Feeling:  | Yup the soda could have affected it as the urine needs to be quite concentrated. ALso did you test at the same time of day for optimum comparison?
I got a + and then next day same time a - ..... it does seem to fade off pretty fast! |

This surge happens 12-48 hours before ovulation - but it dies down again before ov actually happens! It just kick-starts ovulation, so to speak. So, it's completely normally to get a positive then a negative a short while after - the surge itself usually lasts 12-24 hours. Once you get a positive on a OPK you can be reasonably sure that you will ovulate in the next 2 days or so (even if your OPKs have turned into negs), so you should get plenty of  until you are absolutely sure you have ov'd (by charting your temps for example). OPKs cannot tell you whether you did actually ovulate or not. It's possible to get the surge but not ovulate, and it's possible to get more than one surge in a cycle but only one surge can be followed by ovulation. Hope that helps!  |
