However, I also know a few girls who did fall PG at a time when they decided to relax. Eg. one girl who decided to give up trying and that month, fell PG. Another who tried for a year, nothing, had a break for a few months then fell PG the first month they started trying again.

see I think things like that are just coincidence and would have happened anyway, wether actively ttcing or just seeing what happens.

I heard of lots of people who get pg when someone dies in the family, after big disasters in the world etc there are always huge rises in the birth rate afterwards - extremely stressful times but the body just does what it is supposed to do.

Im no doctor so i cant actually answer this question but my opinion is.....

high stress levels can delay ovulation but usually not by too much, say a week, but it doesnt cause infertility.

I have high stress levels, I have a disabled DS, this usually causes me vast amounts of stress but i have gone on to have another 3 pregnancies since he was born, sadly 2 were m/c but thats another story.

as for the relax it will happen part, its just something that people say to women trying to fall pregnant, hey dont actually mean relax, its like when someone says hi, how are you? they dont actually want you to tell them your woes, its just a figure of speech.

as for the getting pregnant when thet stopped charting etc, who the hell knows, for every story of i know somewho who got their bfp when they relaxed there is a story of i know someone who got their bfp by trying every trick in the book.

With 8 bfp's under my belt, i have done it every which way, got 2 on first try, got one not trying at all, got nowhere taking it casual and got one working dam hard at it etc etc etc.

the majority of us will get our bfp's some sooner than others, its not destressing we need to work on, its patience lol

Good luck to everyone, i do really hope that it happens soon for all of us.

P.S I hope this post hasnt upset anyone.

i think that, stress does have an affect on differant women. But it is true if stress was the cause of not getting pregnant women would never do it... if u let it go to your head thou u prob wont get pregnant..

I was trying for a few years with my ex and was told I have PCOS. We later split and I moved on .
I gave up, decided that it wasn't going to happen and started a new career (but did nothing to prevent if you get me).
I then fall pregnant,
I dont think i was any less stressed though. I wasn't trying, that is true but at the time I caught I was on the brink of handing in 2 large essays and studying for 2 exams. All during the same month
I was taking metformin for years, but i have a new GP now who isnt as keen to let me stay on it. She says i only got 6 months at a time now, beeeeatch!!

I think FJL has took the words out of my mouth.

My best friend has 3 kids and she constantly says she only had to look at her DH at the right time of the month and she got pg! At least a dozen times a month she tells me that I only need to relax, stop counting, stop trying, book a holiday and then I'll get pg! NO I BLOODY WON'T! Thing is, we'd just started ttc when we all booked a holiday in 2005, and I was a bit funny about booking it becuase we were ttc. But we did anyway. Then I got my BFP and flew to Ibiza for a fortnights holiday when I was 22 weeks pg. She's now convinced that all we've got to do is book a holiday and we'll fall pg the next week!!! If only it were that simple!

She's my best friend and I've not even told her we're going to the hospital for tests because I know what she'll say.

So basically, I think the stress thing is a load of bollox. I've been stressed, mega-relaxed and all in between for the past 21 months. And still no BFP.

Stress?
What's stress?
Oh are we talking about what makes us feed our bodies vitamins and minerals that half the population has never heard of?
The stuff that makes us have sex on a schedule and then put our freekin legs up in the air for 30 min's?
Or the pain in the ass that has us temping and looking at our saliva with a miroscope?
I think the stress is what keeps us trying month after dreaded month. If we relaxed it would kill us. It gives us drive.
Just my opinion.
Hope this finds you all doing well.
