39 and hoping

Hello there everyone. I am Greta and live in the Midlands, UK. I'm 39 and my fiance is 36! Because of my age we want to TTC for six months now rather than delay to set a wedding date.
I am afraid I met my man later in life (two years ago) and unfortunately time has marched on. So I am just praying and hoping it will still happen.

This is the second month of TTC and I'm really trying not to get obsessed with it!. I have a regualr 27/28 day cycle and think I know when O, which is around CD 11.

We Bd on day 9 this month, and I wanted to again on day 10 or 11 but am a bit frustrated cos partner doesn't seem to respond to the pressure of "this is the time" and it all seems a bit forced..so I am trying to be more subtle about it.

Anway, spose the key is to just focus on other parts of life, like getting fit and having fun. Well good luck everyone, I am looking forward to hearing your stories. x.

Welcome and good luck!!!! You're certainly thinking along the right lines, to relax and focus on other stuff in life. But I guarantee, it will play on your mind and when it does, don't punish yourself. Don't be surprised if you don't fall pregnant after 6 months - and remember that being over 35 means that your dr will do tests for you after 6 months of trying in the UK, which can take a weight off your mind if you are worrying loads.

O, and we all have similar problems with our men but they need to understand this is important ... and eventually, most do and you'll be moaning that he wants to do the deed (or BD, as we call it) too much!

O, and another thing, you can never say you know when you ovulate (or OV as we call it) until you use OV sticks. I thought I ovulated on day 10-13ish but it turns out I ovulated on day 17!! So unless you plan to do BD every other day throughout the entire month, I'd recommend using OV sticks after, say, 3 months of trying to ensure you're doing it at the right time :-)

Good luck and check our our journals and blogs :-) x

Cool

Thanks

Hi just wanted to say thanks for your kind welcome messages.

Yes I think I will get some Ov sticks for next month. I think I do know roughly when it is because for about four days a month I do get those signs that I read about, but who knows what is going on.

Lovely wedding photos Rachelle. No I didn't know that about Jessica Alba!

Right now am just trying to stay positve. I think we missed it this month because of life factors, including partner having a huge project on. Getting down and fed-up wih him isn't helping tho!

I am pleased I can chat on here as none of my friends are on the same page as me, most having had their children.

Any tips for not getting obsessed with it all would be welcome!. Gretaxx.

Hi Greta,

This thread is speaking a language I understand. I could have written the exact same words as you in your first post ... especially about my husband not understanding the 'this is the right time' issue. He is unbelievable at times and I have no idea how I have managed to wangle my way into BD'g each cycle during the 5 days prior to ovulation. Many tears of frustration have flowed and I've told myself on more than one occasion that I need to take a break, but after each AF I start the process of temping and monitoring all over again in the hope that my little miracle is just around the next corner. However, I hasten to add the sessions have only been one or two and not every day like some fortunate people. Sometimes and I guess for a lot of people it simply doesn't work that way. A lot of men feel the pressure and simply cannot perform and that is why a subtle approach is necessary if your relationship/man is sensitive to this pressure. One thing I have noticed though and it is a bit of a consolation to me is that just because couples manage to BD every day around ovulation does not necessarily result in a BFP. This reassures me that my 'quality' rather than 'quantity' method still gives me a chance of conceiving. Without this train of thought, I think I would have given up long ago.

So, you are not alone and for every person who writes here about experiencing the same thing, there will be more than 20 others who read but don't write.

I also met my partner late in life and have been married (for the first time) for less than a year. I am 46 and my husband is 40 and we have been TTC for 6 months. I use a Clearblue Fertility Monitor and Fertility Friend to chart which has educated me no end as to what my body is up to. I too have a 25-28 day cycle and ovulate between CD11 and CD13 ... so we have similar cycles.

Welcome to baby and bump where you will no doubt get addicted, but honestly the members here are absolutely wonderful. They are warm, friendly, intelligent and you can be sure someone will have the answer to any question you ask.

It's good to see more and more new members discovering one of the best TTC secret sites.

Sending you some for your TTC journey. Let's hope it's a short one.

PS: To thank someone you click on the 'thanks' button on the right hand side of your screen at the end of your post. You can also find a 'blinkies' selection in the TTC section where you can copy and paste colourful pictures into your signature and if you join Fertility Friend you will have the option to include your chart on your signature here too by copying the link from FF to here. If you click on my blue FF bar you will be able to see my present and previous charts. It's great to look at other peoples and compare them to your own. The other thing I have in my signature is from Lilypie.com where I have created a TTC ticker.

Here's the link for lilypie.com http://lilypie.com/

And the link for the blinkies and banners http://www.babyandbump.com/blinkies-banners-graphics/

And the link for fertility friend http://www.fertilityfriend.com/
