Need advice on 1st cycle after mc

Let me give you guys a brief history of my TTC so far:

Took last BCP on 20/02/08 after being on it for 18yrs without a break
Started last pill induced on AF on 23/02
Got EWCM on 22/03 also got period like cramps and, sore boobs over the nxt couple of days also
Got 1st real AF on 05/04 which meant I had had a 42day cycle
I got EWCM, bad moods, period like cramping and sore boobs over the wkend dated 18,19&20 April
AF was due 03/05 no show did internet cheapie HPT v.v.v.v.faint pos also done a CB non-digi HPT and that was a
Did another internet cheapie on 06/05 and got also got a :bfp using a CB digi HPT
I started bleeding on 27/05 in the evening and I had a confirmed complete mc on 29/05 after having blood test, ultrasound and internal scan
I woke up this morning and I have completly stopped bleeding

I need advice on when do I start counting my cycle from is it the same way you would if I had had a normal AF? Eg as I started bleeding on the Tuesday evening CD1 would be the Wednesday as, that is the 1st day you wake and have blood. Or do I count from the Saturday which would of been the day was due if I had not been pregnant at all? I have also bought CB digi OPK's as I want to make sure that I do OV this month and, start actively TTCing again once I have had a proper AF.(Want to make sure all the pg hormone is out of my system as, I was told I still had a really low level still.)

Sorry for rambling any advice would be much appricated.

Thanks in advance
Shmoo

I didn't bother to count anything untill i had AF 5 and a half weeks after the last m/c, we were still not being careful and hoping to get a straight away but sadly that didn't happen.

It is very dificult to know where you are after a m/c, i could only suggest using opk's?? Maybe a chat with your GP?

Sorry i couldn't be more use but i do know how confusing it can be as there are alot of 'grey areas' after a m/c, but i wish you all the luck in the world sweetie x

So sorry for your loss

I don't think you can really count CDs immediately after a mc. It varies from woman to woman, but it often takes a while for things to get back to normal. Your first AF can take up to 8 weeks to return and is often later than normal. So I don't think you can start thinking in calendar days again until you've had a visit from the

Apparently, unless the doc has told you otherwise, there's no reason for you not to ttc straight away (they often tell you to wait until after next AF, but that's really for dating purposes so they can calculate your due date). Often you're more fertile straight afterwards.....though sadly I didn't manage to get a sticky bean after my mc (not through lack of trying!).

I hope this answers your question! Good luck and

Hiya,

to answer your question, you do start counting from the day you start mc as that is the sign the placenta is coming off the uterine wall. i.e. causing you to physically miscarry.

As far as what to do, the other girlies are right.. there is no way of knowing what your body will be up to, its a secret its keeping close to its chest and a game you have to be an unwilling participant in- if you know what i mean?

the only thing to try is opk's as the only advice anyone can give you (short of having a scan that shows you are about to ov- which sadly isnt offered, lol) is to expect the unexpected. in short, dont rely on the past to give you an accurate reading of what's going on in your body. Very few woman go back to being exactly as they were before the mc..having said that, maybe you will be one of them.

To be on the safe side though, its probably better not to read too much into things (body-wise) and use the opk's. The other option is to have sex everyother day throughout your cycle, that way never missing the ov window, but you might not feel up to it at this stage ..anywhoo

Sorry for your loss chicken, and chin up, it'll happen again, hopefully very, very soon.

By the way, the advice is based on empirical fact..er, i found out the hard way which is why im passing it on. Having said that, i was only a few days out w/my first af after the mc and i did have ewcm before it. Everything else was a bit differet to what i remembered it, though..no ov pains etc etc..

Good luck, hun!!

Omi xxxx

Hey there,

I know you've had some lovely responses already, but I thought another one couldn't do any harm right?

I had a full miscarriage in April (was only 6 weeks at the time), all I was told by doctors was to wait a couple months before trying again for my systems to get back to normal. I counted my cycle from the first day of miscarriage bleed and my next AF arrived 28 days later. Prior to mc my cycle was 35 days.

I hope that helps a little. I'm sorry for your loss, I know how empty it leaves you feeling! Best wishes for the future!
