I'm Currently Feeling:

Hello girlies,

Just been to see my doctor as I haven't had a period since 14th March. Came off bcp about 10 months ago, and have only had 3 since then. So anyway....

Would appreciate your opinions on this.......

Told the doc the whole story and he told me there's nothing he can do!!!! He said he doesn't want to give me 'false' hormones as that won't help me out in the long run. I suppose he has a point but he went on to say that he's had enough experience to know that these things sort themselves out. He told me to stop worrying about it and it would fix itself. I said that I wasn't overly stressed about getting pregnant, but that I was just a bit concerned that Im nearly 24 and my periods are all over the place.

He said a gyni wouldn't look at me because its too early, and even if I did go to see one they would only do a load of intrusive and possibley harmful tests that would get me nowhere.

Then he asked what age I was and said 'you're only young, you have plenty of time!!!'.

Generally I get on very well with my doc and while he wasn't nasty or anything, he wasn't very helpful.

What do you think about all this???

P.S Sorry if Im ranting, OH isn't home from work yet!

Sorry hun. If that was my appointment, I would be really upset and looking for a new doctor, unless my hubby was able to calm me down and talk sense into me. Hugs.

I don't know sounds like your doctor doesn't have quite the bedside manner I would like. I would try and see someone else if it was me.

I think I'd be looking into another doctor, it seems very odd that he told you that

Ditto the above. I would not be feeling very happy after "help" like that

Sorry you didn't like what he had to say ( and he probably could have put it better yes!!) but the thing is he does have a point ( don't all hit me!!)

artificially starting your periods will make you bleed yes, but it won't be a true period will it, once you were off those meds, you'd maybe be back where you are now? While everyone is differnt and he obviously cannot guarantee that things will return to normal, or when, chances are they will.

Your age is always going to go against you in some areas too, I know in mine, if the GP refers you under 30 - they will not see you.

How long were you on BCP? Were your cycles spazzy before then too? Is there anything to suggest something like PCOS?

Was on bcp for quite a while- 6/7 years. I think i know doc has a point, but its not what I wanted to hear as it just means lots of waiting about!!

Been tested for pcos a few months ago but results came back normal.

Went and bought agnus castus this evening as I read alot of good reviews about it being good for regulating af and think Im just going to have to stop worrying bout it so much (easier than it sounds!)

Hi hon... if it were me, I'd be asking for a second opinion. I have been going to a gyn since I was 15 for non TTC stuff obviously. Of course a GYN will see you. I would give it a shot. I have had a ZILLION tests and none have hurt my body one bit.

GOOD LUCK!

Yeah no thanks.

I would seek a second opinion, otherwise you could be in for a lot of heartache down
the road when you are pushing 30. Definitely a second opinion

Good luck honey
