How would you feel

if your partner had a problem that could genetically be passed to your child?
This has been playing on my mind for a few days. DH has undiagnosed Tourettes. He doesn't swear at people (most of the time!!!), but has twitches (like poking his finger in his eye, and touching in toes 3x when he gets in bed). DH is worried that this will be passed to any children we have, and therefore tries not to get involved with the scientific details too much as he's scared. It doesn't worry me as I just thnk we can deal with pretty much anything and DH will have more understanding than a lot of people of the symptoms.
My sis was the same - she has broncial asthma and as that is also heriditary her daughter has it too. Her attitude is, well I know what to expect.
Would any of this stop anyone ttc? It makes me think more about it and worry, but it doesn't stop me

It wouldn't matter to Me. My child has ADHD which I was told might have been passed on by me! I can't imagine my life without him.

Cheers guys - I think I just needed that bit of reassurance. I know DH's tourettes makes no difference to me ( I love him more co he takes the pish out it), but needed another opinion that I was still doing the right thing I guess

I can see how it would worry you guys. It is never easy to think that you could pass something like that to your child for the obvious reasons. You just have to remember that no matter what happens, if they inherit it or not, that baby will be loved beyond belief and cared for like the gift they are. I wish you the best of luck with it all.
