Negetive OPK test...pls suggest..

Hello...I am new to this community...actually was trying to search over the net the reasons for my negative OPK test and came across this community..so was wondering if you all can help me pls.
I have 28 day cycle and I started testing on my 12th day..then 13th and today (14th day) but the line is always faint. Infact it was darker on the 12th day..than today but was still negative..i am worried...is it normal??

Hey hun, welcome to bnb.

I had ur problem when ttc DS, for 2 years I never had a pos opk. Thought I'd give them a go this time round, but found out more about them on the net. I followed the instructions to the T this time and I've had 2 pos now in my 2 cycles. I find they work best when I do this. The days I suspect OV in near, I go to the loo bout 10am, then don't drink anything or very little until 2pm - go to the loo and then the urine is very concentrated. When I have a surge - they come out very pos - I have pics in my journal from last cycle if u wanna go find them.

Until I did this I never had a pos - I think they're very fussy tests to get right and never work with FMU for some reason. Hope this helps xx

You can OV early. I never got a positive and always went by the darkest i got but now i have the CBFM and know I OV on CD15 but instead of going and buying these which are expensive, if you can afford it go and get the CB smiley face OPKs because at least you will know it is positive rather than having to judge a line. Keep trying as your line may get darker tomorrow or a bit later than you think.
Good luck!

I think it's possible to OV early/late depends on u really. Until I started charting I always thought I OV'd CD14 - when it's more like 18-19! I would def suggest temping if u have no joy with the OPKs - I swear by it now.

Are you using the cheapie OPK's?

If so I never got a positive either, the line was always non existant or quite faint, I used them this month for the first time.

I starting using them twice a day - one day I had no line in the afternoon, tested that evening and had a faint line, and following day line had gone again - I presumed I must have ovulated!! Well I got my BFP to prove I did!

Take the darkest line you get as a positive........and ignore the instructions.

For experimental purposes I peed on an OPK yesterday at 5.5 weeks pregnant and the line was much much darker than the control line for the first time!!!

I dont know if its cheap...coz it was the only one that i saw at boots...cost me £16 for a 5 test pack...do u think the BBT method is more trustworthy than OPK??
And with your experience Coral I am more doubtful with OPKs...

Hi Nicky

I have a regular 28 day cycle too but use the CB OPKs as they give you a smiley face so there is no confusion over faint lines and stuff.

I have used them for 3 months - for 2 months i got a smiley face on CD14 but last month i did not ovulate at all.

I've monitored by CM this month too which has really helped pinpoint it and then today got a smiley face CD14 to say i'll be ovulating in the next 24-48 hours.

With the CB test i always do it 1st thing in the morning which is what the test says you can do.

maybe try them??xx
