Fertility monitors?

Does anyone use a fertility monitor?
Are they better than / do they take the place of OPK?
Worth the money?
Which would be best? Clear Blue / First response / Boots? (think books one may work differently to CB & FR http://www.boots.com/shop/product_de...tionid=1047309)

Would it be better for me to have a go with this before going to see doc or would it tell me nothing of use? (dont waste time and just see the doc!)

on her way - probably tomorrow so will be starting cycle number 14 of TTC

Hi there, although i don't use one as yet, everyone on here seems to speak highly of the CBFM, though it is quite dear i understand they can be reasonable on ebay.

Have you seen your Doc recently? Personally i'd still go and see a Doc if you've been trying for more than a year with no luck, its got to be worth a shot.
Maybe speak to Doc and then buy the CBFM depending on what they say?

Are you using any TTC aids currently?

Big for you honey, you will get there

CBFM seems to be going for about £99 but I've seen it for about £75 in some online stores. Then you have to buy the sticks which I think come in packs of 20 which are meant to last 2 months. These seem to be about £18-20ish. Not checked ebay.

Not been to see Doc - about to start cycle 14 but have been TTC since July 07 - 10 months. Wasn't sure if I should see doc based on cycles or months so am a bit confused. Part of me is worried about going to GP and him/her telling me to not be so stupid and go back when I've been trying longer Also, I suppose I'm thinking 'just one more month and I might get my BFP!!'.... but I could just be wasting time finding out

Only thing I'm doing is using OPK - done it on my 8th, 9th 11th and 13th cycles (missed testing on my 10th and 12th cycles because was away).

I'm feeling so fed up today

Thanks for your reply xx

I have decided to invest in a CBFM which I picked up off ebay for £69.00 with 20 sticks, brand new too. Ive heard lots of good things about them and have read alot of reviews. I am currently waiting for good old auntie flo to show so I can start my 3rd cycle ttc after chemical pregnancy last month (im in a rush lol)
From what Ive heard CBFM is supposed to be the best there is!

I know the feeling where docs are concerned, i'm the same, went to see my Doc when i first began TTC back in Sept, and he was so unhelpful, quite rude tbh, but i've made my mind up i'm going to go again soon and if i need to fib about time then i will, Docs normally say come in after a year of TTC, so go ahead and do not feel embarrassed or like a time waster, stand your ground!!!!!

I've not tried OPK's yet, i did a bit of a bulk order last night on ebay of OPK's, HPT's, a BBT thermometer and some pre-seed, i'm armed for this month, let the battle commence!!!

We all have down days, i get them too, it proves you're only human honey, we're all here for you

I'm on my second cycle of using the cbfm and I've found it really good so far. OPKs have never come up with a positive for me and I've had peaks with the monitor so I'm pleased. Although I'm starting to get exactly the same readings as last month so instead of being happy that I'm regular, now I'm getting worried that it's just programmed to spout out the same results every cycle! Some people are never happy....
