am i just imaginng it all??

ok help please ladies....

my last proper period was 6th april.. i bled for around 12-14days....

i then came on 5th may.. (which is very unlike me as i have crazy cycles).. but it was just dark clots or spotting... which lasted couple of days.. i started taking my duphaston on this day too....

since then no proper period... i did a hpt on fri and it was ...

am now worried i am making up symptoms... my temperature ahs been quite high last few days.. nipples are vey sore and pretty much permantly erect.. and have had some strange cramping.. nothing like period pains... other than that i seem ok.. no nausea or headaches.. although i have gone off fags a bit and am constantly wanting to eat meat especially salami.. is it too early for cravings??

or do u think that the the period that started 5thmay was cut short by the duphaston??

sorry to rant on.. am very confused and worried im a little mental right now...

xx

Is duphaston a progesterone supplement? If so, that would explain both the high temps & the pg symptoms.

I suspect so. For example, birth control pills come in two forms: a combination kind (with estrogen & progesterone) and a progesterone-only pill (given to women who don't tolerate estrogen or who are breastfeeding). In both cases, you don't take the pills for a week in order to simulate menses (it's not a real period, it's "withdrawal bleeding." However, in a real cycle both progesterone & estrogen drop off suddenly at the onset of menses (progesterone is the heat-inducing hormone, whereas estrogen has the opposite effect. Estrogen dominates the follicular phase (post-menses to ovulation) and progesterone the luteal phase (post-ovulation to onset of menses). That's why your temps are low in the first half of your cycle & high in the second half.

So with the caveat that I am not a doctor, I think your progesterone supplement may be fooling your body into thinking its pregnant; hence, no menses (despite perhaps not being pregnant). I suggest you talk to your doctor about what you should do in this situation, as I have no idea and would not recommend you start or stop any medication without first consulting your doc.
