As some of you know oxsarahxo sadly lost her baby girl Jessica Charlotte Reay hours after giving birth. We are arranging a star to be named after Jessica and a lantern for her resting place from all of us. We also thought it would be nice to make a contribution to Sarah & Matt so they can use it towards flower arrangements, head stone or resting place arrangements. If you would like to contibute please PM me for details. | Vitamin B6 - how does it lenghten luteal stage? It supposedly lengthens your luteal stage but how so - by making you O earlier or get your AF later?
Just wondering where the is, she usually shows her evil signs by now. But 2 BFNs suggest I'm not PG so wondering whether it's the VitB6 doing its work? x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Good question - I started taking B6 on this cycle and not sure if it does one or the other, as far as I gather it just evens things out so if u OV late then it prob makes u OV earlier. Just guessing tho. |

| I'm not really sure how it works but I don't think it affects when you ov; rather it helps to increase the progesterone in the LP so that the post-ov period is extended. It might take a few cycles to see results as well; vitamin supplements usually do not work immediately.

| Thanks girls. I've been taking 50mg of vitB6 for 2 months now. Looking online, there's no indication that it makes AF late, but it does make OV early. Not sure really. So confuddling! x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I found these titbits for us: - Vitamin B6 reduces bloating since it is a natural diuretic. It can also help with estrogen levels that may be imbalanced during a menstrual period
- promotes red blood cell formation
- It is effective for PMS symptoms because it reduces estrogen while raising progesterone levels.
- Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated the efficacy of vitamin B6 supplementation in treating PMS.
- Vitamin B6 should not be taken in doses over 50mg/day unless under a doctor's supervision, since higher doses may have side effects.
- one way of lengthening the luteal phase is with progesterone supplements. Another way of increasing the luteal phase is with vitamin B6.
I have been taking it for two months (50mg) but i don't think it has helped but i'm still taking it but am going to see the doc and see if it's ok to up it to 100mg. |

Thanks for this hon. Still trying to ascertain if it might be why I still haven't got AF yet cos 'lengthening luteal stage' could mean earlier OV or later AF? x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Hey, i was just doing an internet search for you (!) and found this, which i think suggests it makes you OV earlier....
My own personal experience has been two episodes of LPD, both after coming off birth control (once the "regular" pill and once the minipill). In each instance my period has been 40 or more days for a period of four or five cycles, but with ovulation occuring only at day 30 or so. The time I took B6 I only took 50 mg daily and the cycle corrected instantly- I ovulated on day 14 and got a positive pregnancy test on day 28, and a beautiful daughter 9 months later. The second time (after the minipill) I started with 50 milligrams, but began the supplementation on day 10. There was no change in the cycle, which was 42 days. The second cycle I took an extra 100 mg. Sure enough, I ovulated on day 14. I don't know whether or not I am pregnant, but I believe that even if I am not, my cycle will at least be regulated at 30 days. I plan to continue the supplementation at the current level until I am pregnant. |
