I also spot before AF anywhere from 2 to 4 days prior to coming on to my full AF, and I also asked my doctor about it last year when we began to try, she said it was nothing to worry about either! As I read more and more about it being bad, I am also worrying if that is the cause why we can't get pregnant either (though i haven't been trying as long as you, maybe about 6 months) - now we weren't actively trying this month, but i wanted to see what AF would do - I am 12DPO and started spotting as I suspected I would yesterday at 11DPO.

Which if Af doesn't come early, I will be spotting for 4 days prior to this month.
I am right now trying to change my diet, because there's been so much candy and sweets in the house since about Valentine's Day and then Easter, my diet has been extra poor, but I noticed the spotting since about August of last year, a couple months before we began trying so I don't know if it's diet. Truth be told I guess since last year my diet hasn't been good but anyways....it could have something to with diet, not eating enough fruits/veggies/whole grains etc. It could have to do with low progesterone /hormones/stress and several other medical reasons.
I am going to print out one or two articles I found to show to my gyno as proof, because I no longer believe it's harmless.
Don't worry hun, I'm just as worried as you are
