Smear test on CD27 - safe or not?

I've just realised that I've got a smear tomorrow morning. Is it safe do you think?

I know I should carry on as normal with my life as we've been ttc so long and the chances of me being pg this month are minimal, but I don't want to risk it if it could be harmful. On the other hand, I should have had this in January and forgot, so really should go.

I got my reminder letter last week just before an appointment for a blood test at the doctor's. Whilst I was there I asked if I should avoid any time and they said no. Apparently they used to recommend you go mid-cycle but they've changed the way the test is done so you can have it any time (although procedure is still the same for us!).

They didn't seem at all concerned I'm TTC, that doesn't make any difference apparently. All the same, I think I might book to have mine done in the first two weeks, not during the 2WW.

Might be different at different doctors, so probably worth a call if you're worried.

Thanks both. I've just rang the doctors, and the receptionist was less than helpful (as usual!)

She refused to ask a doctor for me, and just said to ask the nurse in the morning when I go!

I've just popped into the doctors for a pee cup to take my sample in tomorrow. Packed waiting room - conversation goes like this:

Me (quietly) - Can I have a sample bottle please
Her (loudly) - Pardon?
Me (quietly - Can I please have a sample bottle
Her (loudly) - Sorry, you want a sample bottle?
Me (quietly) - yes please
Her (loudly - Is is for you?
Me (quietly) - yes, it is
Her (loudly) - Is it just a standard sample?
Me (quietly) - I don't know, I have a smear test tomorrow
Her (very loudly) - you want it for a sample for a smear test?
Me (VERY LOUDLY) - YES. AS YOU SEEM TO BE BROADCASTING IT TO THE WHOLE OF THE VILLAGE ANYWAY, I AM HAVING A SMEAR TEST TOMORROW MORNING AT 9.05 AND WOULD LIKE A SAMPLE BOTTLE SO I CAN BRING MY PEE IN TO BE CHECKED PLEASE.
Her (very quietly) - Here you are

*receptionist hands over pee bottle and Amanda turns on her heels and flounces out of the surgery*

I don't think I'll need to tell her what I'm there for in the morning!!!!

Hope it goes well x
