Well, I'm back from the smear and the nurse said it was perfectly safe to do it.

She did say that my cervix looked 'normal' and she couldn't tell if I was pg or not from the position. Oh well, it was worth asking.

Thanks for the update. I'm due another one in June (I'm having them every six months at the moment) so that's really useful information x

Hi, just reading this thread and thanks for the information. I had a smear on day 5, and I had stopped bleeding, but the nurse was really snotty and said I shouldn't have booked it so close to my period and I should go in the middle of my cycle. She said it prob would be inconclusive and I'd have to have another and when she did it there was some old blood on the stick. Afterwards I was spotting for 3 days. I am not sure how I can go when TTC as (and without meaning to be too gross) there is "other stuff" that they may find up there in the middle of my cycle. Anyway, its been nearly 8 weeks and I still have not heard anything back yet. So frustrating. I wanted to ask about the position of my cervix and if everything looked normal up there as I had a m/c in Jan but the nurse seemed so mardy I daren't ask and felt like a naughty child!
