I did a pos for ov on friday and got a very very faint line. so faint you had to hold it up to the window.

then yesterday there was nothing at all not even when i held it up to the window.

i knew it would be far too early to be ovulating so what does it mean?

It means that you have a small amount of luteinizing hormone in your system - which is completely normal, but does not mean you are about to ov. That's why they say an OPK is only positive if the line is as dark as (or darker than) the control line- it indicates a surge of the hormone. The surge means ov is on its way

OPKs are confusing things! Obviously you used different pee on each stick, so the dilution (is that a word?!) of the pee won't have been the same. The pee that was not so diluted would have had more of a chance of showing the LH.
