Late period...Need some advice!

I'm 23. My period is usually regular. I have a much longer cycle than the average 28 days. It's usually like 42-45 days. I can pretty much tell when I am going to get it for the next month -and I'm usually right. (ex: If I get my period on the 10th of one month - the next month, I will get it on the 20th. Maybe a day or two later sometimes.)

My first day of my LAST period was on March 19th. For the month of April, I should have gotten it on the 29th but I didn't. I actually started cramping around that time -and I thought my period was coming but nothing happened. I had some kind of brown spotting that I never get. It was weird -not like your usual "blood" color. It was dark brown and it wasn't a lot either.

I took a pregnancy test (one that I bought from the dollar store) about a five days ago and it came out negative. I'm hardly ever late and if I am -it's never THIS late.

What do you think? Should I retest? Do you think it's just "late"?

Note: I recently got a job -could it be the change in my schedule? I also have a 5 year old daughter -my pregnancy with her had NO symptoms.

Thank you!

Hey Melissa, I think you know the answer to this one already!! Only one thing can put your mind at rest either way - !!
It takes some people longer than others to get a positive on a pg test. It might even be worth seeing your dr for a test as i guess a blood test will be more sensitive?

Yep i agree with Coffee - maybe using a more sensitive HPT or see your doc for a blood test

Yep you've gotta again! Changing jobs could have affected your cycle if it was particularly stressful or you have changed to/from working nights for example, but you won't know for sure until AF turns up or you get your Sorry - not much help am i!!!

I think you should retest! I didn't get my BFP until I was 5 days late on AF
