I know I said I'd stay away but I'm having an OPK nightmare

Maybe a slight exageration.

I caved and got OPK's. I did a HPT a few days back and all the hormone is definately gone so I guessed they'd be ok to use.

Anyway, when I started doing them 5 days ago. I had a strongish line, three days in a row. It wasn't positive but looked like it was heading that way. Anyway yesterday and todays one there's not a line even if you squint a bit.

Does that mean I've missed the surge? Or have I not ovulated?

I'm just so confused and I'm panicking that I damaged my womb when I fell over and lost our baby I've been having niggly cramps (not as bad as af cramps). I just don't think I'm ever going to ovulate again

Im no expert Im afraid but used OPK's for the 1st time this month!

Like you I got a couple of strong lines, but not as dark as the control line, however the next day like you there was no line again.

Remeber OPK's usually detect you are going to ovulate within 12-36 hrs.

For me Im sure it was only 12 hours, as had a dark line and then it was gone the next day! I also had horrendous cramps around the same time, which would tie in well.

It would seem you have ovulated if the line was pretty dark and now there is nothing, and the cramps would also tie in well with the timescales!

Snowball- OPKs can only detect when you might ov - but they can't tell you whether you actually did or not. Even if you get a clear positive on an OPK you can still not ovulate. OPKs are notoriously rubbish so don't get into a fret! It's better if you have some other signs to cross check with like temps?

I'm sure it's not you Snowball x OPKs are horrible until you sort out where you are with them (in my experience - have only used them for two months but have read loads on them as they were messing with my head!!!).

You may have O'd and the tests aren't sensitive enough for you (they come in different strengths, I've used the 40 mlU ones that never gave me a proper positive and the 15 mlU ones that did).

You may have O'd but missed the time when you would have got a 'proper positive', it can happen for some women within 12 hrs so if you're only testing once a day then you could miss seeing the positive only the strong lines either side of it (!).

You may have not O'd but the OPKs you're using are quite sensitive so they're picking up the LH you have and you will get a positive reading when you do O.

Also different brands are different - some just need part of the test line to be as dark or darker than the other whilst other brands need the whole of the line to be dark (!!!!).

There's a great website - http://www.peeonastick.com/opkfaq.html#10

that I found really helpful (I was panicking that I wasn't O'ing at all, switched sensitivities & did my temps and had a proper positive that tied in with my positive OPKs).

Hope this has helped and not confused you xxx

I wouldn't read to much into it, according to OPK's I didn't O at all this month! but I had plenty of EWCM

I'm sure your fine, perhaps try a CBFM as I think they are clearer to use? Or temping instead/as well as OPK's?
