yeast infection...

Well, I woke up this morning with a raging yeast infection. *tmi* We tried having sex this morning and it BURNED bad and he had yeasty stuff all over him when he pulled out.

It kind of bums me out. I've only had a yeast infection one other time in my entire life. I forgot just how miserable it is.

Anyways, I was wondering what medicine is safe to use to treat yeast infections while TTC. I'm in my 2ww and am worried that if I am pregnant it will harm the baby; are there any treatments that are safe for this? Thanks!

I've heard a yeast infection/thrush can be a sign of pregnancy. You can use canistan cream which is totally safe to use during pregnancy. I had it terrible last month and the cream helped soothe the itchyness and burning.

I'm not sure what you can use. I had a yeast infection myself a couple months back, and boy is it miserable. It took two doses of canesten to get rid of it, and I made DH put cream on too, just to be on the safe side. I don't think you're meant to use canesten when ttc or preggers, but it was the best one according to the pharmacist.

Not sure if that helps you though - good luck

From the Canestan website:
There is evidence that the slightly increased risk of premature birth caused by yeast infections can be reduced by using an anti-fungal product such as Canesten®.

So, not only is it safe to use, it could even save your baby's life!!!

I get plagued with thrush and I know when it's coming. Canestan works a treat especially if you catch it early.

Thanks!! I'm not sure if they have that where I live though (United States). I've never heard of it before and on the webpage under country pages there doesn't seem to be one for the US. Any other ideas for safe medications?

Ta daaaaaa!
Women who suffer from vaginal yeast infections, such as candidiasis, can buy clotrimazole at a pharmacy. In the UK, Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, and parts of Latin America and the Caribbean the drug is marketed under the name Canesten. In the US it is marketed as MyCelex and Lotrimin or Lotrimin AF; in Israel, as Agisten, Clotrimaderm, or Clotrimazole-Teva.

I am in Google heaven- bring it on!!!

Hope it clears up soon as it is very uncomfortable and you shouldn't BD again until it is cleared up - also treat OH in case!

Yeah, I don't think I could BD if I even wanted; it hurt too bad this morning. It's okay though. We are well into the 2ww now. We just make love for fun in these weeks Thanks!
